Dan Mahle (l)

Dan Mahle, SAF's Program Director, is leaving SAF because his other interests are taking off.  Although he's been with SAF only a short time, he has made a difference and he will be greatly missed.  He asked to share the following message with you.

After months of consideration, I have decided that I will be transitioning out of my role as Program Director at SAF in mid-late April. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with SAF. I am moving on in order to dedicate my full energy to several outside projects that are very important to me (click each for more info):

  1. The Art Affect
  2. Summer of Solutions
  3. Generation Waking Up

I want to say to the whole community that I am grateful to each of you for helping to make my experience at SAF positive and incredibly rewarding. I am fully committed to the ongoing success of this organization and I will be happy to make myself available to answer any questions that you may have throughout this transition process.

                                                                                      Thank you, Dan

Dard Hunter: The Graphic Works by Larry Kreisman

Co-sponsored by the Central Library, the Book Club of Washington and the Book Arts Guild

When: April 18, 7 - 8:30pm

Where: Microsoft Auditorium, Central Library, 1000 4th Avenue, corner of 4th & Madison

Cost: FREE/Donation

Lovers of the Arts and Crafts have long been drawn to Roycroft books by the remarkable graphic imagery and experimental typefaces designed by Dard Hunter, who excelled as a designer, craftsman, printer, typographer, and papermaker.

Dard Hunter: The Graphic Works (Pomegranate, 2012), a new book by Historic Seattle Program Director Lawrence Kreisman, explains how a youth growing up in rural Ohio tapped into progressive European design ideas, made them his own, and succeeded in giving these designs national exposure.

After his talk, Mr. Kreisman will be happy to autograph his book.  A portion of the proceeds from book sales will benefit Historic Seattle.
