Fourth of July Fun + the Northern Illinois Quilt Fest Kickoff! 

Lakeside Festival at Lakeside Park in Crystal Lake - "the granddaddy of all festivals" in McHenry County - starts today through July 4. This fest is a huge draw and the largest showcase of local restaurants and entertainment in Crystal Lake and McHenry County. Enjoy a parade, carnival rides, contests, music and so much more!  

Sunday, enjoy Concerts in the Park (Main Beach) featuring Crystal Lake Community band with Voices in Harmony - plus fireworks at dusk! Tuesday's Concerts in the Park is cover band Spoken Four.  

Tonight is Northern Illinois Quilt Fest's  Preview Night - Glorious Quilts at the McHenry County Historical Society and Museum in Union. Friday several quilt events begin for NIQF including the Porch Quilt Exhibits on Marengo's Main Street, an exhibit at MCC and an exhibit at McHenry Public Library.  

Friday, celebrate the Kick Off to the Fourth of July in Cary (Lions Park) with live music, food, refreshments and a fireworks display at dusk. Next Thursday's Concerts in the Park is Mr. Myers.  

Independence Day Weekend: A Grand Celebration at Grand Geneva in Lake Geneva is a four-day extravaganza over Fourth of July weekend including live music, beer, food and fireworks.  

The Fourth of July Trolley Pageant at the Illinois Railway Museum in Union features a parade of electrically powered street cars, "L" cars, interurban equipment and work cars.
