Family Fun

Tonight through Sunday, celebrate Oktoberfest with Woodstock VFW Post 5040 and help benefit McHenry County veterans.


The Old Time Country Harvest Day on South Harrison and Washington streets in Algonquin Saturday will include free games for kids, pumpkin contest, craft fair and a sidewalk costume parade for kids starting at noon.


Island Lake residents and village leaders will celebrate the town's 60th anniversary Saturday with pie-eating contests, a classic-car show and other old-time events.


Check out Spring Grove Groove Saturday - a live music event featuring all local performers. The free event will also include games, a raffle, plus food and beverages.


scarecrowsHome & Garden

Make your own scarecrow on Saturday through Monday at Countryside - just bring your scarecrow clothes and creativity, the nursery will provide the straw and twine!


The first 15 people to come to The Growing Scene in Marengo each day Friday through Sunday day will receive a free plant. Special sales and free refreshments will be available all weekend. 


Monday, Learn how to make a floral holiday centerpiece in Woodstock from the owner of Pumphouse Flowers.


The Arts
Friday, don't miss Chicago native Ron Hawking take Lucy's intimate stage at Raue Center to perform spot-on renditions of some of music's all-time greats.

On Saturday and Sunday at Raue Center, Yury Klavdiev's I Am The Machine Gunner (translated by John Freedman) takes the audience into the conflicted mind of a gang member.

On Saturday, Theater Undreground will once again do an IMPROV ONLY show at the Olive Black Martini & Wine Lounge in Richmond. 


lovesexFriday, Saturday and Sunday at the Woodstock Opera House, "Love, Sex and the I.R.S.," a comedy by Billy Van Zandt and Jane Milmore, is a wild farce with twists of fate, sight gags, mistaken identities, and hilarious comic lines.

 
Food & Spirits
Are you a lover of fine cuisine and spirits? If so, plan to attend the Rotary Club of Crystal Lake Dawnbreakers Wine Tasting & Dinner tonight to End Polio NOW tonight. 

Put on your best pair of jeans and bling and party with your girlfriends during "Dazzlin' Divas in Denim" Girl Party at McHenry Country Club on Friday.   

Fridays and Saturdays in October are Oktoberfest at Deeter's in Woodstock! Enjoy a special menu and sing along to authentic German music with Fredl & Hanne Lore. Plus - are you ready for a boot of beer?!

Charity Events
Come out to the 3rd Annual Coach Tomaso Celebration Walk & 5k Fun Run Saturday at Tomaso Sports Complex in the Talamore Subdivision in Huntley.

Saturday, check out Blondie's Barnyard Bonanza in Union, a once-a-year opportunity to meet The Life Center's animal staff as they take off their therapeutic hats to interact with their adoring public.

Sunday, celebrate Helping Paws' open house in Woodstock by touring the facility and enjoying refreshments.
