As for this weekend, Woodstock is going to be hopping!
This
is a special weekend for the county during the McHenry County Fair at the fairgrounds in Woodstock -
the family fun lasts through Sunday.
Another
exciting annual event that resumes this weekend is the Woodstock Mozart Festival at the Woodstock Opera House. This weekend, the principal
guest artist is Mark Peskanov, violinist and conductor. He will
direct a master class of students from McHenry County on Saturday.
If
art is your thing, tonight's you night! "Real People, 2010 Fine Arts Show," hosted at the Old Court House Arts Center opens tonight (running
through September 26). The show is open to all medium forms that
depict the human face and form.
Help
out a great Woodstock organization this weekend! A golf outing benefit
that will benefit Helping Paws Animal Shelter takes place at Boone
Creek Golf Course in McHenry Saturday.
Elsewhere, family fun is all around. Remember the '80s blockbuster
"Footloose"? All weekend long, Students of CYT Chicago present this
high-energy and touching musical at Huntley High School.
Also taking the stage this weekend is a hometown funny lady Kelsie Huff during "Bruiser
(& Losers*)" at the Memorial Civic Theatre in Richmond. This is a
special Friday night benefit for Theater Undreground - it's a
not-to-miss improv event that will have you rolling! And Theater
Undreground's Improv group will perform a free show on Saturday night
at Olive Black Martini & Wine Lounge across the street.
Make sure tomorrow night you check out Lakeside Legacy's First Friday exhibit. Enjoy food and music while observing the artwork of Pat
Brutchin and Mike Gricus.
Also in Crystal Lake, don't miss the Tent Sale at Mayfair Furniture & Carpet (661 S. Main St.). This clearance sale features savings of
up to 80 percent from Friday through Sunday!
Add some excitement into the next workweek with the final Concerts in the Park at Main Beach Tuesday evening in Crystal Lake. It's a free summer evening
designed for the whole family featuring Vito Buffalo Orchestra.
Pieceful Gathering 4th Annual Anniversary Quilt Show takes place on
Saturday at the Fox Valley Engineering building (106 Northwest Hwy.) in
Fox River Grove. The event includes a free barbecue and discount
registration day for fall classes, which will be starting in
September. The show will feature quilts made by students and customers,
and other surprises!
The McHenry County Historical Society's 1867 limestone one room school
will be open to the public on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. There is no
charge to examine this unique historical remnant from an early period
of local history.
Also, the Caring Paws Program is offering animal assisted therapy
classes from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Centegra Hospital-McHenry - participating dogs must have basic obedience skills and love meeting new people.
A bit outside of our borders is the annual World of Faeries Festival Saturday and Sunday in South Elgin. Expect music, entertainment, family
activities and shopping. This is a themed event and dressing up in
fairy, fantasy costumes are encouraged.
