Something for Everyone this Weekend ...

As I write this, we are going to print with our exciting Back to School issue. From student-oriented activities to the best places to dine around town, you won't want to miss this issue!

This weekend, once again, is chock-full of summer fun for your family.

The arts and entertainment scene is heating up! The McHenry City Stage Band will have its final concert of the summer at Veterans Memorial Park tonight at 6:45 p.m. featuring McHenry College Jazz combo.

Check out CYT Chicago/McHenry's presentation of "Footloose" starting Friday and running Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through August 8 in Huntley.

Saturday marks the beginning of Woodstock Mozart Festival's 24th season (through August 15). A roster of prominent artists and diverse repertoire highlight the festival, which takes place at the Woodstock Opera House.

Grammy Award-winning Christian rock band Audio Adrenaline will be appearing during the McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce's Family Faith Nite on Saturday at Petersen Park.

Next Tuesday in Crystal Lake, check out Crystal Lake Community Band (7 p.m. at Main Beach). We'll be at this weekly event giving away free summer issues. Please stop by and say "hi!"

Get out this weekend and help those in need! Tomorrow, Helping Paws Animal Shelter's 3rd Annual Golf Outingtakes place at Prairie Isle Golf Course. All proceeds go to this a no-kill shelter in Woodstock.

Saturday, there are many ways to help your neighbors in need. Tour de Kids is a fundraising bicycle ride offering two routes (one for leisure and one more challenging) starting at Doyle's in Richmond. And, it f you stay for lunch at Doyle's, the restaurant will donate 10 percent of each ticket to It's All about Kids. Walla Pa Looza is a musical fundraising event at the Johnsburg Community Club (2315 W. Church St.). A portion of the event's proceeds will benefit the Centegra Sage Cancer Center and its breast cancer programs in McHenry County. Saturday is also the Beverage in Hand Volleyball Fundraiser at the Parkside Pub to benefit Huntley Jaycees.

Downtown Crystal Lake will be hopping Saturday - National Night Out/Block Party is a fun, free event that includes music, games food and entertainment!

In baseball is your thing, the 2010 MCYSA/USSSA 15U Summer International Championships will be held in Crystal Lake and surrounding communities through August 1. Read our story here.
 
For all of you dog lovers, The Bull Valley Life along with Reeses Barkery, Julie on the Spot Dog Walking, and Gypsy Glen K9 Kastle would like to invite you and your pooch to the first ever Dog Party on Sunday (at Reeses Barkery,  1313 N. Riverside Dr. in McHenry). There will be lots of prizes and Pets in Need will be on hand to microchip your dog for $25.
