Get into the Groove - Music is all Around! Hello McHenry County! Can you hear that? Yep, it's music. Great music. The kind that makes you want to get up and get moving. We have so many opportunities this summer to have fun with party bands, sing-along to rock'n'roll songs or just sit back and enjoy some oldies with friends.
McHenry County Living is proud to sponsor the Cary Summer Concert in the Park Series starting tonight Cary Summer Concert in the Park Series opens tonight.  | at 7 p.m. with Alex & The Allstars - a band playing a variety of hits from the '70s to the present. These free concerts are held on five Thursdays throughout the summer at the Rotary Bandshell in Lions Park.
We're also honored to sponsor Crystal Lake Concerts in the Park, also free, which continues next Tuesday with Voices in Harmony at the Main Beach band shell in Crystal Lake on at 7 p.m. The choir will be singing patriotic favorites, spirituals, and American folk songs.
Free summer issues of McHenry County Living will be available at the weekly Crystal Lake and Cary concert series while they last!
On Sunday at 6 p.m., pack a picnic and bring the family to the north lawn behind the Lake in the Hills Village Hall for the first of LITH's Summer Concert Series. Soda will be performing everything form '80s new wave to classic rock.
Don't miss Raue's Summer Sock Hop Saturday at 8 p.m. featuring the Neverly Brothers, who will present '50s rockabilly to the early '60s British Invasion. Put on your poodle skirts and blue suede shoes for a costume contest!
And Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m., join Woodstock City Band 125th Season, one of America's oldest contiguously running city bands for outstanding hometown concerts on the Historic Woodstock Square through July 28. Each concert is accompanied by a local ice-cream social and is free to the public.

26th Annual America's Cardboard Cup Regatta
Every year at Main Beach Park in Crystal Lake, participants and spectators gather to enjoy the Cardboard Cup Regatta, what is widely considered the world championship of cardboard boat racing. This year, gates open at 9 a.m. Saturday with races starting at noon. Proceeds benefit a variety of local charities.

Lunch in the Park, Downtown Crystal Lake/Main Street
Friday at 11 a.m., Downtown Crystal Lake/Main Street is pleased to host Lunch in the Park. This is a free concert series featuring local musical talent. Guests are invited to bring their own lunch or purchase their meal from one of the many downtown restaurants. Food vendors will be available on-site. Event is held in Depot Park (Woodstock and Williams). The newly completed downtown gazebo will serve as the stage for musicians.

Honor our 'Heroes' this Weekend
There are two great opportunities to honor our troops past and present this weekend. On Saturday starting at 9 a.m., the 3rd Annual Remember Our Heroes Car Show will feature food, music, beer tent and raffles at the Woodstock VFW Post 5040 (240 Throop St.). Sunday starting at 10 a.m., spend A Day at Petersen Farm celebrating the home front of WWII. Reinactors/docents will be there to welcome visitors, see American War War II soldiers and find out about basic training and gear! Vendors will be available with food and refreshments.

Kicks 4 Kids to Benefit Options & Advocacy for McHenry County
On Saturday and Sunday, Premier Wellness Chiropractic is combining efforts with Skills First Soccer and the McHenry Area Soccer Federation to launch the first Kicks 4 Kids youth soccer tournament at McHenry Middle School (2120 West Lincoln Rd. in McHenry). While getting and keeping kids active is a worthwhile cause in itself, the benefits of Kicks 4 Kids will reach far beyond that by bringing our community together in a fun way to raise funds for a phenomenal local group called Options & Advocacy for McHenry County. Enjoy concessions from Healthy U, a McHenry-based foodservice company dedicated to serving healthy and natural snacks.

Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center to host 5K Run
Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center - Huntley will host the RoadRunners 5K Run Sunday. This run for charity is a great way to stay involved in the community and enjoy an early morning run. Along with a 5K run, there will be opportunity to run a One-Mile Fun Run, Kids Dash and Diaper Derby, so families of all ages can enjoy the morning's activity!  'Dip and Drip' at the Fox River Grove Water Filtration Plant
Join Mary Kozub of the McHenry County Conservation District next Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. for the "Dip and Drip" event at the Fox River Grove Water Filtration plant. Prepare to get muddy and wet - and have lots of fun. The program is open to people ages 8 to adult. Any participant 14 and under must have parent in attendance.
