OUR SUMMER ISSUE IS OUT NOW!
Summer is heating up!
New Issue Hits Streets, Great Events All Weekend Long!
SUMMER10COVERAs I put together the Weekender, I'm reminded time and again that there is really no reason to ever leave the county. With non-stop summer activities all week, there is something for everyone any given day. Your only challenge will be to choose what to do. Our goal is to give you some good recommendations!

Looking for family fun in Cary-Grove? Check out the Summer Celebration on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Stone Hill Shopping Center at routes 14 and 22. Enjoy a classic car show, giveaways, music raffles and more.

Pack up the whole family for Strawberry Fest on Saturday and Sunday at Cody's (19502 River Rd.) in Marengo. Not only can you pick your own strawberries, but there will be games, children's tractor track and barrel rides, face painting, food and lots of strawberry treats.

We're excited to announce the Crystal Lake Historic Preservation Commission's Trolley Tour this weekend from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at Lakeside Legacy Arts Park (401 Country Club Rd.). The 45-minute narrated tour will begin every half hour (get your tickets at Heisler's Bootery, 50 N. Williams St.). Plus, ticket sales go to a great cause - the commission's preservation activities and grant funding. Also in Crystal Lake this weekend is All That Dance at the Raue on Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 3 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Don't forget to head over to Main Beach in Crystal Lake next Tuesday evening and say "hi" to McHenry County Living at Concerts in the Park (Crystal Lake Community Band will perform).

Finally - attention local shutterbugs! A reminder that McHenry County Photography Contest deadline to mail entries forms and payment is June 15 (drop off date for all photographs starts August 2). Contact Nancy Shepherd, nshep143@sbcglobal.net for more.

Check out other highly recommended weekend happenings below - and don't forget to pick up your Summer issue of McHenry County Living (stories are online, too)!
