Oil Sands business - Lambton County Warden Steve Arnold, Economic Partnership GM George Mallay, and Sarnia Lambton Industrial Alliance representative Larry MacDonald are promoting Sarnia-Lambton's metal fabrication, engineering, and environmental services right now at the Canadian Oil Sands Summit in Calgary.

Up to 50% for summer student hires - Small business owners (employing up to 50 employees) thinking of hiring students this summer may be in luck!

 

The Federal Government is offering wage subsidies of up to 50% of the minimum hourly wage to help employers create summer jobs for students. Not-for-profits are elibible for up to 100%. 

 

Applications from Lambton County will be assessed based on criteria that includes: skilled trades and technologies; tourism and agriculture; programs for youth at risk; and business advocacy or economic development organizations with job creation and skills development mandates.

International conference gaining attention - Bring Bioproducts to Market: Overcoming Risks to Commercialization is the focus of an international conference that will take place March 26-28, 2012, at the Holiday Inn Sarnia/Point Edward.

 

Hosted by the Bioindustrial Innovation Centre, the two-day event is garnering attention from bio companies across North America. Confirmed speakers include Mike Hartmann, Executive VP of BioAmber. BioAmber is building a  biosuccinic acid plant in Sarnia, schedule for operation in 2013.
