Upcoming Montreat Conferences
Church Leadership Enneagram Retreat, April 11-13, 2012
The Enneagram Personality System will serve as a map as participants learn the nine distinct personality types, their gifts, and challenges as they relate to pastoral leadership. The uniqueness of this personality system lies in its ability to clearly identify motivations beneath behaviors. It brings to consciousness "why we do what we do" and brings awareness to our "focus of attention."
Leader Sandra Smith is the founder of Alchemyworks and has been teaching the Enneagram throughout the southeast since 2002. Sandra creates and leads workshops and staff trainings using the Enneagram as a map for deepening self understanding. Additionally, she facilitates type and study groups, and works one-on-one with individuals as an Enneagram workplace consultant and also offers spiritual companioning.

The Montreat Artists' Series,
April 15-20, 2012
Choose from one of two spring art forms being offered:
Pottery: Clay as a Healing Tool
Clay serves as an amazing shift to handwork and tapping into our hidden creativity. As a group, we will let clay and prayer move us. We will immerse ourselves in the process of forming shapes and vessels. Working with our hands, the clay serves as a tool to unlock the recesses of creativity and healing in our minds, bodies, and souls. There will be an opportunity for both wheel work and handwork, depending on individual preferences. Instructor Becky Garrity makes and sells functional pottery. She also finds inspiration and encouragement in teaching pottery to disabled adults and others in Virginia.
If I Had a Hammer: Basic Metalsmithing for Jewelry
Participants will learn to forge, solder, form cold-connections, patina, finish, and embellish metal sheet and wire into beautiful and unique wearable art while reflecting on the parallels for ways in which God does much of the same in our lives. InstructorDeb Guess is an artist, wife, mom, campus minister, gardener, chocoholic, and cook. She is firm believer that creativity is a way to get in touch with the Sacred and looks for every opportunity to connect life and creativity. Learn more about The Montreat Artists' Series and register online.
