Hands of Christ
Making Plans for the 2012 Distribution
2012 has begun and with the new year Hands of Christ is beginning to make plans for its' distribution this year. We hope to serve 5000 or more children in the five county area currently being served. Since we began nine years ago we have served over 28,000 children. Since school started in August an additional 110 children have received emergency clothing through their schools from Hands of Christ.
The 2011 distribution left our "cupboards bare", especially in "slightly used" clothing and supplies. We need all children's sizes of "slightlly used" clothing (size 4-16). Presently our supply of adult sized clothing is adequate. If donations would like to be made please bring them to Westminster Presbyterian Church or contact Jim Frye at 556-3949, email fecr1@yahoo.com. We are also in need of copy paper boxes to use to store the clothing.
As we get closer to the distribution starting at the end of July updates will be give in future editions of The Chat Line. If you would like more information contact either Jim Frye or Tammy Brown (766-8311). Thank you for your suppport and effort in making this a very successful ministry.

June 23-30, 2012
Click here to download a trip flyer.
The Presbytery office is coordinating an opportunity for youth from member churches to participate in the Bishopville, SC camp from June 23 - 30, 2012. What does a Salkehatchie week look like?
- Salkehatchie is open to youth age 14 and above. The Bishopville camp will have around 85 participants with 20-30 coming from Charleston Atlantic Presbytery.
- CAP will work the participating churches to coordinate transportation to Bishopville.
- Youth arrive at the host church on Saturday night. The host church will provide lodging, breakfast, and dinner throughout the camp. Other local churches will provide lunch.
- On Sunday, the whole team worships with the host church in the morning.
- Camp participants are divided into teams of 12 (8 youth and 4 adults). Each team works on the same home for the entire week. Work projects are usually substantial and may include roofing, replacing bathrooms, repairing sheetrock. Salkehatchie recruits skilled adult volunteers and youth are well supervised to insure their safety.
The cost to participate in Salkehatchie is just $215 per person. This includes all lodging and meals, plus a camp T-shirt. Applications and full payment are due by March 30, 2012.
