Birth Announcement
Congratulations to Mark and Meghan Hunt on the birth of their new baby girl, Rebecca, on April 4th at 6:39 pm. She weighed in at 6 lbs. 11 oz. and is 18-3/4 inches long. We wish you all the best!

Presbytery Office Update
 If you have been to the office we hope you noticed Barbara's new space right as you come in the front door. It's very bright and inviting... Now we need to work on the large room in the middle that will become a gathering/waiting room. We have had the office painted and put up SOME memorabilia from our local churches, but what we need is:
- a large area rug,
- a sofa,
- two or three chairs, and
- a large coffee table
Right now we have old furniture that really needs to be replaced. If you have anything that will enhance the office, please contact Mike Fitze and he will make arrangements to pick it up.

No Charleston Area Minister's Lunch in April
There will be no lunch in April due to Holy Week and Easter falling at the end of the month. The next gathering will be at Westminster on May 23rd. Mark your calendars now!

Attention Acts 16:5 Congregations
 Stan Ott will return on Tuesday, May 14th, for an all-day (9:00am - 3:00pm) session with the pastors and the vision teams from each church. Mark your calendars NOW and let me know if you would like to host the meeting. We need a central location, room for 60-70 people and parking. Mike Fitze will take care of lunch and will be setting up minister groups in the next week.

Interim Pastor Needed in Tempe, Arizona
 Grand Canyon Presbytery, on behalf of Mission del Sol Presbyterian Church, Tempe, AZ, is seeking an Interim Pastor to begin in mid-July. Mission del Sol is concluding an 11 year pastorate to retirement in June (the second pastor in the church's history), has recently completed a building expansion (sanctuary), and is a very energetic, mission-focused congregation. The session has stated: "We intend to grow the mission of Mission del Sol through the interim period."
If you know of an experienced pastor with either interim training or solid transitional leadership skills, one whom you can recommend with confidence, please ask that person to send a PIF to this address: [email protected].

Pictures of Deacons Serving Needed
 Audrey Deas is seeking pictures of various church's deacons being active in their ministry, being ordained and serving others. For example assisting elders, visiting the sick, (hospitals, nursing homes, etc.), preparing communion elements, and other roles. Audrey is hoping to include these pictures in a PowerPoint presentation at this year's STEPS event in August. CAP Multicultural Seminar: Being the Church Together
in a Multicultural and Pluralistic Society
Saturday, May 7th, 9:00am-12:30pm, at St. Andrews Presbyterian Seminar will be led by Rev. Antonio (Tony) Aja
 Demographics show that immigration is rapidly changing the face of the United States. Most of these immigrants are from the Global South, where Christianity is growing much faster than in the West. These new Christian communities bring with them gifts of faith, worship, and ministry that are expressed in non-Western ways. In the days ahead, the Presbyterian Church (USA) must adapt to these new dynamics and strive to be a truly cross-cultural and fully inclusive church. Please join us to learn how our congregations and our denomination may become truly multicultural, and thereby faithfully embrace the great ends of the church by fully embodying the exhibition of the Kingdom of Heaven to the world.

Summer Church School Curriculum

AWESOME ADVENTURES:
GOD'S PEOPLE ON MOUNTAINS AND SEAS
This broadly graded summer curriculum for elementary children explores Old and New Testament stories of encounters with God on the mountains and the waters. Some of the stories included are: Faith in the Midst of Flood (Genesis 7:1-5), Laws from the Top of Mount Sinai (Exodus 19:6-20:21), Twists and Turns at Mount Tabor (Judges 4:4-22; 5:1-31), The Sermon on the Mountainside (Matthew 5:1-7:29), The Calm on the Sea of Galilee (Mark 4:35-41), and Breakfast on the Beach
(John 21:1-14). This material can be adapted for VBS as well as mid-week studies throughout the year.
WE BELONG TO GOD
This is the preschool summer curriculum from Wee Believe. Many of
the lessons in this quarter will come from the Book of Acts as children learn about people who helped start the early church. Some of the stories included are: Peter Leads Jesus' Church (Acts 1:12-14; 2:14), Paul Becomes a Follower of Jesus (Acts 9:1-20), Lydia Welcomes Paul to Her Home (Acts 16:13-15), and Paul Prays for Others (Ephesians 1:15-16).
BEING REFORMED:
FAITH SEEKING UNDERSTANDING
This adult study series has several new six sessions studies. They include Seven Days to Glory: Holy Week, Re-membering Baptism, The Confession of Belhar, Seeking Social Justice, Temptation in the Desert, and The Lord's Prayer. PW Spring Gathering: Let Your Light Shine!
April 9, 2011, 9:00am-1:00pm
at Peace Presbyterian in Goose Creek
 Plan now to join the Presbyterian Women of the Charleston Atlantic Presbytery for their annual spring gathering. This year's theme is Let Your Light Shine! Our speaker will be Rev. Carolyn Heyward, of St. James Presbyterian (Charleston). A native Georgian, Reverend Heyward comes to the St. James family by way of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is a graduate of both Albany State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology, and Columbia Theological Seminary, where she earned a Master of Divinity degree.
Cost is $10 per person or $12 at the door.

Presbyterian Pilgrimage and Retreat
Two Dates in 2011: May 19-22 & October 6-9
 Presbyterian Pilgrimage begins with a three-day spiritual renewal experience designed to strengthen the faith of individuals, and through them to impact the environment in which they live, worship and work. It proposes no new type of spirituality, but simply a method through which one's spirituality may be developed and shared in an on-going Christian manner. Presbyterian Pilgrimage has been an active ministry in South Carolina for over 25 years.
Pilgrimage is based on Cursillo, meaning a "short course" in living the Christian Faith. Presbyterian Pilgrimage is consistent with the Reformed Faith. During the weekend (Thursday evening through Sunday afternoon) participants worship and study together to gain a more
personal awareness of their faith, as well as the joys and responsibilities which that faith brings in a Christian community.

Institute for Youth Ministry at Princeton
The Institute for Youth Ministry at Princeton Theological Seminary will be holding our annual Forum on Youth Ministry April 26-29 in Princeton, NJ. The Forum is a great opportunity for anyone who is interested in Youth Ministry to spend a week exploring how our theology interacts with our ministry with young people. Youth Pastors, Youth Ministry Volunteers, Senior Pastors, and Parents will all find this event to be a valuable and enriching time.

Internationally Renowned Batik Artist to be at Circular Congregational on May 1st 
Mary Edna Fraser, internationally renowned batik artist and member of Second Presbyterian, Charleston, will be delivering the sermon on May 1st in recognition of Earth Sabbath at Circular Congregational Church. She will be collaborating with SC poet laureate, Marjory Wentworth. In addition, 15 of Mary Edna's stunning batiks will be on display at Circular, April 26-May 12 from 10:00-2:00, excluding Sundays.
