Each E-News features a local Farmington business that contributes to the strong economic base which makes Farmington a great place to live and do business. Featuring: CT Business Resources
Although we usually feature a local business in this section, a few agencies within the State of Connecticut have introduced new programs that may be helpful to our local business community. Here is a brief summary of those programs.
DECD - Small Business Express
The Small Business Express Program (EXP) provides loans and grants to Connecticut's small business to spur job creation and growth. Small businesses employing not more than 50 employees are eligible. Assistance focuses on:
- Access to capital: Revolving Loan Fund
- Incentive loan and grants to create jobs:
- Job Creation Incentive and matching grants
DECD - Job Expansion Tax Credit (JET)
Connecticut businesses can be eligible for tax credits of $500 per month for each new full-time job created. If the new employee is receiving vocational rehabilitative services from the Bureau of Rehabilitative Services, receiving unemployment benefits, or is a veteran employee who, at the time of hiring by the taxpayer, is a member of, was honorably discharged from or released under honorable conditions from active service in the armed forces, then the tax credit is increased to $900 per month.
Capital Workforce Partners - Step Up Program
The foundation of our strong local economy is the success of your business! If you would like to be featured or you know of a business that should be featured, please contact Courtney Hendricson at 860-675-2395 or hendricsonc@farmington-ct.org.
