"It is a poverty to decide that a child must die so that you may live as you wish."  Mother Teresa

January is Pro-Life Month, and the annual March for Life will be held in Washington, DC, on January 22. As a veteran of many of these marches (it was a 10-minute drive across the river from my home in Alexandria!), I can highly recommend participation in this event. If you've never been, consider signing up for one of the local buses that travel to DC. If you can't make the trip, you can participate in the candlelight vigil that will be held in Sidney on the 21st - information is available at the Shelby County Right to Life Web site.

Wishing you and your family the best of everything in the New Year - good health, happy times, and God's grace and blessings.

Matt Maher in Concert

MattMaherMatt Maher, a Catholic singer in the Christian Contemporary genre, whose voice is frequently heard on Christian music radio stations nationwide, will be performing in Rockford on March 13. In 2008, Matt launched his ground-breaking CD, "Empty and Beautiful," and played for Pope Benedict XVI's visit to the United States and at World Youth Day. In 2009 he traveled with Michael W. Smith's "New Hallelujah World Tour," and just recently, iTunes named Matt Maher's "Alive Again" Best Christian & Gospel Single of 2009. Matt continues to travel the world, spreading his faith and inspiring the young and the young at heart through the gift of his music.

Opening for Matt will be local artist Kristin Evans and The Bridge Church Band. The concert will be held at the Parkway High School Auditorium in Rockford, and will start at 7:00 p.m. (doors will open at 6:00). General admission tickets are $15.00 for adults and $10.00 for children 12 and under, and are available for purchase at our store or by contacting Steve & Betsy Merrill at 419-375-1530 or smerrill1@bright.net.
Open House
Thanks to everyone who visited the store during our Open House in December - we had a great turnout and lots of fun. Congratulations to Heather Borchers of Russia, who won the Fontanini Nativity door prize!
Coffee
CoffeeThis seems to be a recurring subject! Yes, we still have a limited supply of Mystic Monk Coffee, which we hope to continue selling throughout the year. But Santa also brought us a lovely Keurig coffee maker, so now you can have a hot cup of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate any time you visit us! A great way to warm up on these frigid January days. If we don't offer, please ask! We always have copies of the National Catholic Register and Faith & Family Magazine available for you to read, and you can also spend time previewing books and other materials.
