What do NASA & the DreamSpa have in common?

470 nm Blue LEDs.
Good news for DreamSpa users!The NASA Space Station and Space Craft lighting systems will be converted to the same 470nm Blue LEDs as used in the DreamSpa. Here is a sample of the NASA report. NASA research favors 470nm peak wavelength LEDs: Currently, NASA's space vehicles and ground control facilities are illuminated by white fluorescent lighting. White LED lighting fixtures are being developed at this time for the CEV, which will replace the Space Shuttle, as well as for the vehicles and habitats being developed for lunar exploration. In addition, th e ISS is to be retrofitted with 470nm peak-spectrum LED arrays. These new lighting technologies are principally intended to provide proper visual illumination for NASA astronauts to navigate their environment and accomplish their work. There is interest in the strategic use of light as a nonpharmacological stimulus in overcoming the sleep and circadian disruption that some astronauts experience during space flight. NASA analysis found that the blue 470nm LED panel was safe for 8 hr. of continuous exposure, even for photosensitive individuals.

Using Near-Infrared LEDs
