Tested and proven design standards can transform student learning and make a real difference in student and faculty satisfaction.  Register for the NEW February Quality Matters (QM) G6-12 workshop: Improve your online course (IYOC), February 18.

This workshop is geared for teachers, instructional designers or curriculum developers in K-12 who are interested in making the design of their existing online or blended courses more effective for their students and for themselves.

The Quality Matters Program Grades 6-12 Rubric has been created to address the need for a set of standards that is specific enough to guide the development, enhancement, and evaluation of online and blended courses for middle and high school students. The Rubric and training opportunities can be used for professional development, curriculum development, quality assurance for current courses and evaluation of instructional design practices.

Choose from an array of vital online and face to face workshops at special introductory rates.  Fees are $225 per participant.  For subscribers, fees is $175.

Workshop Title: (G6-12 IYOC) Improving Your Online Course
Date: Thursday, February 18, 2011.

Description: This workshop explores the Grades 6-12 (G6-12) Rubric and provides a framework to improve the quality of online courses.  Participants use the 42 standards of the Rubric to review the design of their online courses. The workshop culminates in the creation of a Course Improvement Plan.

Participants:  Teachers, instructional designers or curriculum developers in K-12 who are interested in making the design of their existing online or blended courses more effective for their students and for themselves.

Length of time:This workshop requires eight to twelve hours to complete within three weeks online. Participants need access to an existing online course.  Participants may be awarded one (1) Continuing Education Unit on successful completion of their Course Improvement Plans.

Specific Workshop Information

Option A: IYOC Online, three weeks, facilitated, $175 per person for subscribers/$225 per person for non-subscribers.

Option B: IYOC via Elluminate Live! $2500 for up to 20 participants. $3000 for non-subscribers, up to 20 participants.

Option C: IYOC face-to-face, four hours, plus four to eight hours of follow-up work online, up to 20 participants, $2,500 for subscribers/$3,000 for non QM-subscribers plus facilitator travel expenses, no pre-requisite requirements, participants materials provided by QM.

Integrating National Standards and Best Practices
The award-winning Quality Matters (QM) Program is a teacher-administrator centered, peer review process that is designed to certify the quality of online and blended courses. The Quality Matters Grades 6-12 Rubric integrates existing national standards for K-12 online education promulgated by The Southern Regional Education Board (SREB), The North American Council for Online Learning (iNACOL), The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), and The Partnership for 21st Century Skills.
