April is Earth Month...... |
| Mineral makeup is, just as the name suggests, made from minerals. These are naturally occurring minerals and inorganic pigments from the earth (metal ores and iron oxides) that are very finely crushed and milled. They contain no oils, no preservatives, no fragrances, no talcs and are safe for very sensitive skin.
Iowa Plastic Surgery is proud to carry Jane Iredale Mineral Makeup. Why do we recommend Jane Iredale Mineral Makeup? It is not only safe but has benefits for the skin. The ingredients are so finely milled that they will not clog your pores and because it is made from inorganic minerals it will not gather moisture to support bacteria. It also acts as an anti-inflammatory agent; helping to calm and soothe irritated skin (such as acne, rosacea, and the redness following peels and laser treatments). Jane Iredale also has a broad spectrum UVB and UVA protection up to SPF 30. It also does not augment wrinkles like traditional powders.
Jane Iredale Minerals will make your life simpler as it is a foundation, concealer, powder, and sunscreen all in one... and helps you look good too.
NEW... Cool Beauty Collection from Jane Iredale for Spring.

Taking the Mystery out of BOTOX®... What you may know and not know.
Botox® is the most popular cosmetic procedure performed. In fact, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) ranked Botox® Cosmetic as the most popular physician-administered aesthetic procedure in the United States for the fourth year in a row (surgical and nonsurgical combined).
What is Botox® Cosmetic?
Botox® Cosmetic is a simple, nonsurgical, physician-administered treatment.
Botox® is a natural, purified protein produced by the Clostridium Botulinum Bacterium, that relaxes muscles by blocking nerve impulses. With a few tiny injections, Botox® relaxes the muscles that cause skin to crease.
What is Botox® Cosmetic used for?
Over time stress, aging, genetic and active facial expressions can greatly impact the appearance of the skin making it look wrinkled, dull and tired looking. Dr. Van Raalte provides Botox® Cosmetic treatments which can reduce or eliminate facial wrinkles and creases. Once the muscles are at rest the skin becomes smoother, creating a more natural and relaxed appearance.
Where can Botox® Cosmetic be used?
Botox® Cosmetic injections are used most often to treat facial creases and wrinkles such as crow's feet area, frown lines and forehead folds.
Is Botox® FDA approved?
Yes. Botox® is approved by the Food and Drug Administration.
How long does it take Botox® to work and how long do the effects of Botox® last?
You'll see the results within a few days. After Botox® Cosmetic injection, results normally last around 3 months. However, this depends on the individual.
Does the injection hurt?
The area to be injected is often numbed by ice. A very tiny needle is used, so the pain is minimal and not long lasting. Many of our patients experience no pain whatsoever.
How long does one treatment take?
One Botox® injection procedure at Iowa Plastic Surgery takes about 10-15 minutes, depending on the patient and the severity of the wrinkle. Since the procedure is non-surgical, no recovery time is needed. After a Botox® treatment, you can get back to work or other activities right away.
