Greetings!
I just recieved this report from our GO team leader Jeremy Barbee. He led a team to Uganda, West Africa this month. Here is his report:
Four GO team members joined with two missionary families to make a team that was twelve people strong. We had some wonderful opportunities to serve the people of Uganda. We built two mud homes and one outdoor mud kitchen. These were homes for a disabled man in a distant village, an elderly man in the local village, and a kitchen for a child-led family nearby.
We also had the wonderful opportunity to serve at a local orphanage less than 2 miles from our home base. This is an orphanage with more than 220 kids. To manage all this there is just one father figure, one manager, and three house mothers. Needless to say, these kids were starved for attention and affection. We spent a week with them leading activities in the mornings and developing friendships and talking.
In addition to the things we did and the people we met is what God has done in our team members' hearts. In the midst of great poverty and need, Jesus walked with us and we heard the Father's heart cry for His children.
We shared the message of the Father's love with everyone we met. This powerful message of love from the heavenly Father is for everyone. People need to know that who delights in you and loves you. We are not the same people who left Kentucky a few weeks ago. We have been changed! Over these last three weeks we have begun to see how God delights in us and have heard Him rejoicing over us with joyful songs. My prayer is that we continue to hear God's song for us and never forget how much the Father loves us. We are changed people! In this broken world we are more motivated than ever to try to lead people to the Father God's heart.
Thats a pretty exciting report isn't it? Join us on a GO team and experience it for your self! Thank you so much for your support!
