Greetings!
Next week, Larry Cochran and I will travel 16 hours up and down the Amazon river to teach at two pastor training events in the Peruvian jungle. We can't wait for the opportunity to encourage and equip those who serve the towns and hamlets nestled in this region. These pastors have no access to resources and training so they will hungrily soak up everything that we can share with them. Please pray for us as we teach. The kingdom impact of training conferences for pastors as well as for their churches is amazing.
Here's why training conferences have such a tremendous impact:
Conferences let us take training to those who need it most. Pastors in this region of Peru want ministry training, but have no way to get it. The areas they live in are too remote; there are no Bible schools nearby.
Conferences help us equip pastors in a way that works for them. Most Majority World pastors are bi-vocational, which means they have to work training opportunities around their jobs and ministries. A 2 to 3 day conference is perfect for them.
Conferences provide encouragement to the pastors. A training event brings pastors together, giving them the chance to share their experiences, successes and struggles with each other. They learn from one another and build strong relationships, which in turn builds community and unity between churches. It is amazing to see this take place!
Conferences also provide a way for experienced national leaders from other areas to teach alongside us. This trip we will have Wilkinson and Desiderio, two experienced Peruvian pastors, as well as Guillermo, our partner in Colombia, teaching alongside us. The insight and experience they bring allows pastors to be equipped in even more effective ways.
