Yacusimma is not a name you are likely to remember.

During my recent trip to Peru, I passed through this village of five hundred people each day on my journey to Pasaraya where our team was helping complete a church building project.

I kept sensing from the Lord we needed to stop here and hold a campaign.  There was no church or pastor, people were living in darkness.  After consulting with our Peruvian pastor Juan Paredes, it was decided we would go as a team and show the Passion of the Christ movie to the entire village.

Our church friends from Sapasoa loaded the trucks with sound and video equipment and off we went on a Wednesday evening.  We spent several hours handing out Gospel tracts and inviting everyone to the movie.  We opened with prayers and singing thanking God for His great goodness and blessing upon this community.

Then the movie started.  From the beginning to the end the estimated two hundred people never moved.  They were riveted on the story of Jesus and the depiction of his suffering and crucifixion.  When the movie ended no one moved.  Pastor Juan retold what they had just seen.  "It was because of our sins Jesus was crucified, and now He alone can make atonement for yours."

The Holy Spirit alone knows what He accomplished on this one evening in a small out of the way community but we all praised God for the privilege of making His Name known.

Jesus said, "If I be lifted up I will draw all men to myself."

Following that special evening and the moments to pray with people, we decided to return the next day and hold VBS and an eye glasses clinic.  Many came and expressed their joy in our visit.

Gratefully Pastor Juan and several lay members are now making regular treks to Yacusimma to follow up and disciple new converts.  Please pray for them as they seek to establish a stronghold for the Gospel in this area.

Thanks so much for praying and holding me and our teams up in prayer.  My thirty five day journey was filled with a number of Divine interventions and Divine provisions.  What a privilege to pray with and share the Gospel with so many people.  People are hungry here.

What's next?  I am seeking support to provide hundreds of Bibles and training materials for new converts.  People here have very little knowledge of scripture.  Four dollars can help purchase one Bible and a discipleship manual for one new Christian.

Follow this link to the GO website if you would like to give a Bible and discipleship manual for these new Christians.
