Superintendent's Message

Spring is a season of celebration in the cycle of the school year.  In recent weeks we had premier events to celebrate students' skills, talents, and determination.  We have applauded the skills of students who have succeeded by participating in annual competitive events - the Spelling Bee, Math Contest 2010, local, state and international Science Fairs, and the Mock Trial competition.  Students' talents were feted at the Student Authors' Fair and Poetry Contest.  We honored the determination of all students who this year commemorated their graduations.

Celebrate their achievements with us in the accompanying articles that highlight those events.

Learn how we continue to support student achievement in unique and creative ways as you enjoy the articles, photographs and video about our Natural Bridges High School and Green Careers Program as well as the Inside Education video. They give reason to extol student accomplishment throughout the year until we cycle again to the season of celebration in spring 2011.

Video - A Brief Look Inside Education

Inside Education
Inside Education
Inside Education was created specifically to build awareness and support for public education by providing hands-on experience in educational settings through a series of intensive half-day seminars that educate participants on issues and opportunities, successful programs offered, challenges, and the business of educating and preparing our students for the future. The Inside Education video provides a brief glance at a few of the many and varied ways the SCCOE and the eleven local school districts collaborate to make student achievement a reality. You are encouraged to view the video, and by doing so, will be inspired to learn more and perhaps participate in our Inside Education program.

Mock Trial Competition Immerses Students in Law Related Learning

Mock Trial Competition
Mock Trial 2010
"Mock Trial prepares you for the honesty of real life. Attorney scorers and coaches are honest to Mock Trial students and sometimes it is hard to hear, but it makes you a stronger person. Mock Trial teaches you to further understand the law. It is a test of your knowledge and critical thinking skills and makes you truly recognize the power of words."
--Celeste Gutierrez, former Watsonville High School Mock Trial student
