NOMA: 100 Years, 31 Hours of Art and a Playhouse
| |
The New Orleans Museum of Art is by far one of our city's finest treasures. It's 100th birthday is this weekend.
To celebrate, the Museum will be open for 31 continuous hours offering a great line-up of history, music, theater, dance, art and family fun. NOMA's Centennial Celebration is FREE and open to the public.
Over the years, the Museum has curated an impressive collection of educational programs. And with 40,000 art objects in NOMA's permanent collection, this weekend's centennial celebration is a perfect way to introduce kids to the magnificent world of art and possibly rediscover it for ourselves. To further support and enhance it's educational programing, the Museum is raffling off one of the coolest playhouses you've probably ever seen. The NOMA 100 Green Playhouse is constructed with salvaged, sustainable materials with an ergonomic design. A skylight and a "green" wall of planter boxes add to the whimsical architecture - leading to many possible uses left up to the imagination! One lucky family will walk away with this masterpiece valued at $20,000.
Come celebrate. Doors open Friday, December 16 at 10am and close Sunday, December 17 at 5pm. It's a party!
