Shoes with "Sole"

I complain about the piles of shoes collecting in my daughter's closet. She has too many. She has too many that she never wore because she won't wear red, or she won't wear blue.

But what if she only had 1 pair? Would she wear them? What if she had none?

What if she had no choice but to grow up barefoot?

Tonight, when you put your little ones to bed, look at their feet. Hold them in your hands. Admire how sweet, how soft, how beautiful and strong they are.

Remember the delicate miracle of your newborn's feet, how you cradled them in the palm of your hand and how you've watched them grow, telling a life story one size at a time.

But what if they told another story? What if those little feet looked tired and sore because shoes were a luxury?

As of September 2010, through TOMS One for One movement, 1,000,000 pairs of new shoes have been given to children in need.

This Saturday from 10-4, Pippen Lane Children's Emporium hosts a "Style Your Sole" event, inviting the community to come together to help children in need, while customizing their own blank, canvas TOMS.

Logo_HarvestMusic10/12: Harvest the Music. Fight hunger AND listen to the sweet sounds of Trombone Shorty? Well, ok. And be sure to check out Fleur de Light, a New Orleans candle company fighting hunger through their See the Light, Feed the Hungry campaign. For each candle sold, $1 is donated directly to Second Harvest, providing a meal for a family of four. That's good stuff.
