You know you're a friend of City Park when...

Your child's first Ferris wheel ride was at Carousel Gardens;

You stroll through Celebration in the Oaks every year with your family at Christmas time;

You attend multiple birthday parties throughout the year at Storyland (or take a quick picture with Little Bo Peep);

You stop to smell the roses at the Botanical Garden;

You attend the Spring & Fall garden shows;

You float a boat at Big Lake;

Fido runs free at City Bark;

Grandparents treat the little ones to ice cream at Parkview Cafe;

Your husband plays golf;

Your kids ride horses; or

 NP_CityParkOakTree2

you just sit under an old oak tree.

If you believe in all that is City Park - that it is a treasure to our City and community - then become a member. It's what keeps City Park beautiful.NP_FriendsCityParkMembership

Friends of City Park is also kicking off its first ever Member Month: a series of events open exclusively to Friends of City Park members that give them an extra in depth look at the park's history and fun activities for all ages.

nolaParent Picks
9/17 @ 10am: Southern Art, Southern Stories (For children 4-7). Once a month, children will hear stories, explore the museum, and create art inspired by themes found throughout the museum such as family, nature, and self.

9/17 @ 11am: Curious George will show at the Saturday Morning Movies for Kids @ the Children's Resource Center.

9/17: 25 Years and Still Playing! Happy 25th Birthday LCM!

9/17: Dralion Cirque Du Soleil @ the Arena. Fusing the 3,000 year old tradition of Chinese acrobatic arts with the multidisciplinary approach of Cirque Du Soleil, Dralion draws its inspiration from Eastern philosophy and its never-ending quest for harmony between humans and nature.

9/18 @ 2pm: Harriet the Spy will show at the Sunday Matinees @ the Latter Branch Library.

9/16-24: The Addams Family @ the Mahalia. A smash-hit musical comedy that brings the darkly delirious world of Gomez, Morticia, Uncle Fester, Grandma, Wednesday, Pugsley and, of course, Lurch to spooky and spectaular life. Ages 8 and up.

9/23-24:  Darwin the Dinosaur: A Glow-in-the-Dark Adventure for All Ages features electroluminescent crayon-like creatures that light up the night in a heart rending tale of a scientist, Professor Henslow, and his creation, Darwin the Dinosaur.  Hurry. Tickets are going to go fast.
