A few cool things to note...

Ad_SummerCraftCamp

It's summertime! And good grief it's hot. If you're a parent (or caretaker) who has the joy of spending the entire summer at home with little ones and you're looking for some indoor fun, check out Skip to my Lou for 30 days of Summer Craft Camp. Everything is totally do-able and is sure to bring out the kid in you. And if you're inspired, post pictures of your crafts on the nolaP FB page so we can all admire your (er, your children's) beautiful work! Got a craft idea? Share that too!

I WANT MORE DRIVE-THRU COFFEE SHOPS IN NEW ORLEANS! I'm driving around with kids in the back seat, some asleep, some just need to remain strapped in and I don't want to park, unload and reload. This would make mommy-life just a teensy bit more bearable. So I posted my suggestion to Neighborland - a fun and easy way for residents to suggest new businesses and services that they want in their neighborhood. So cool.  Check it out!
nolaParent Picks
Octavia Books publishes a really cool bi-monthly newsletter for booklovers (pick up a hard copy in this week's Gambit). This month's edition of The Octavian has some great summer reading recs, including a few for our newly minted graduates (great gift idea for that awesome babysitter you're probably about to lose). There is also a great spread on kids books for all ages and some insightful family/Father's Day recommendations, including Paul Reiser's Familyhood.

Sorry, folks. According to the FDA, oysters aren't really aphrodisiacs, so if you're in baby-making mode (or not), don't put all your eggs in THAT basket as you head to the Second Annual New Orleans Oyster Festival this weekend. Proceeds benefit our local coastal communities.

This Saturday, children and their families are invited to STAIR Kids' Day from 10-Noon. Children can visit with artist Alex Beard and create their own works of art. STAIR will provide lemonade and cookies.

Back to the Beach Festival is better than no beach! Don't miss this weekend's 3 day family fun event - a fundraiser for the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation, dedicated to restoring and preserving the water quality, coast, and habitats of the entire Lake Pontchartrain Basin.

Sign up at the New Orleans Public Library for this year's One World, Many Stories summer reading program. Kids can even log their reading online. Readers ages 0-12 who complete 8 books or 800 pages this summer get certificates and rewards.
