High on the Hog: A fight against pediatric brain cancer
| |
Local non-profit Hogs for the Cause supports families caring for a child battling pediatric brain cancer.
The foundation was originally formed to support local 4-year old Ben Sarrat Jr. who tragically lost his life to brain cancer one week before High on the Hog in 2010.
Hogs for the Cause kicks off festival season with its annual pork competition and fundraiser to benefit the fight against pediatric brain cancer.
In its third year, High on the Hog, the official pork-cook off of the state of Louisiana, moves to City Park and brings together 50 - 75 teams who battle it out for the title of "Pork King".
WHEN: This Saturday, March 26, at 11am. Music & food lasts until 10pm.
TICKETS: $10 in advance; $15 at the gate; Kids under 12 get in free! Buy tickets. WHERE: City Park @ the intersection of Zachary Taylor Drive and Magnolia Drive near the rugby fields.
WHY: To support the fight against pediatric brain cancer! Fest-goers will enjoy a day of tasting delicious pork dishes prepared by area competitors (including many local chefs and restaurants), an outstanding musical line-up, food prepared by local food truck vendors and all the ice cold beer you can drink.
The event is family-friendly so bring the kids!
