Greetings!

Julie with Guitar IIWell, hey there!

So...enough of the small talk. I've got some exciting news to share this month (no Dad, not that!): I'm going to be heading into the studio this December and January to record a new CD!!

This is beyond exciting for a number of reasons:

1) I get to work with producer (and talented singer/songwriter, overall music magician and amazing person) John McVey.  I worked with John on a project last year and we're a great team.
2) I get to record with members of the Etown (yes, that very cool weekly NPR show!) band Christian Teele and Chris Englemen.
3) I get to record at Coupe Studios, where I felt right at home the moment I walked in.
4) Coupe's very own Meriku takes excellent care of anyone who walks through the door (luckily that includes me!).
5) I will be working with the largest budget of any of my CDs to date.  While I don't see MTV on my horizon in the near future, this budget will be comfortable enough for me to get some serious talent to play on this record and not to feel rushed during the process (yes, you pay by the hour for studio time).
6) And, last but not least....YOU are going to let me know which songs I should put on this album!

Seriously, can you please take about 2 minutes and go to my website to vote for your three favorite songs? I'm in the process of narrowing down the number of songs and would really appreciate and value your input.  Thank you so much!

Hope to see you in Denver, Boulder, Boston, NYC or wherever we may find ourselves this month!

With gratitude,
Julie
Risa Aqua"From the Narrows I Called to You..."
Listen to these ancient words from Psalm 118: "From the narrows I called to God and God answered me from an expansive space.  God is with me I have nothing to fear."

I've said these words since I was a kid but I never really thought about them.  I recently saw an art exhibit by Denver watercolor artist Risa Aqua in which she used them in many of her paintings. Risa's gorgeous work (see above right) enabled me to understand something I never did before: that this sentence is about moving from a space a fear and small-mindedness into a space of love and connection.

May we all merit that.

And, of course I had to write a song.  Click the video below to hear it.

I'm in the process of booking shows in the Pacific Northwest and New England this winter and spring.  Please let me know if you'd like to set something up there or elsewhere.

Here's to a wonderful fall!
