Keep Music Alive in K-8 Classrooms Nationwide

People from all over have come forth and participated in GITC's Project in the Global GIving April Challenge, successfully helping us raise over $2,400 from 57 different people! Truly, every little bit counts. Thousands of students will now benefit from daily music in their classrooms thanks to the folks who have extended a helping hand & shared the cause with family and friends.

But we're not there yet. We need to raise a total $4,000 to earn a permanent spot on Global Giving, which will help us stay healthy and our programs running strong.

Unique Yoga, Music & Photography Benefit for GITC in NYC

The Morrison Hotel Gallery has partnered with yoga instructor Alexandra Moga and the charity Guitars in the Classroom (GITC) to host a special series of open-level yoga classes at their Prince Street Loft in New York City's SoHo neighborhood.

A run of 10 classes have been slated to take place in conjunction with forthcoming photography exhibits shot by famed music photographers and featuring iconic images spanning the careers of some of music's most important artists. Yoga classes will be accompanied by tunes of the featured artist, giving participants a unique opportunity to experience these musicians from a wholly new perspective.

Tickets are $50 per class and each session will include entry into a raffle with gifts provided by various sponsors including Staple Design, jewelry by Guenevere Rodriguez, body care from Nama Products and items from the Morrison Hotel Boutique.

All participants will be offered post-yoga smoothies and refreshments courtesy of KIND Healthy Snacks and Vita Coco Water to enjoy while viewing the exhibit in a more traditional standing position.

Young Students in a GITC Classroom Express Appreciation

Dr. Diana Wagner

Dr. Diana Wagner has been training classroom teachers in Salisbury, MD with Guitars in the Classroom for over four years, giving the gift of music to teachers in training - one that they can carry with them for the rest of their lives. One of these teachers and her students decided to express just HOW much having music in their classroom means to them in the form of a gorgeous craft project thanking Diana for what she does.

Diana received a custom-designed art chair made by Salisbury teacher Teresa Waller and her students (age 4). The students colored and decorated dozens upon dozens of guitar cut-outs to make the decoupage-like wonder! They even embedded a picture of Dr. Wagner & her CD Tradition Bearer on the back of the chair!

Dr. Diana Wagner's Custom Guitar Art Chair!

And Dr. Wagner wasn't the only one being appreciated - her assistant for the GITC program at Salisbury University, James Russell, received a similarly decorated 'art guitar' also made by Teresa's thoughtful students. Enjoy the photos below in this special Pictorial Edition of the GITC eNewsletter.
