Remanufactured or refurbished: Remanufacturing and refurbishing materials to maintain their original utility is one step better.  The object is revamped, repainted, resurfaced, rebuilt, redone, or reutilized in better condition than before.  It's sort of like getting a new car by washing your old one.  You gain a new appreciation for what you have, and save a bundle of money to boot!

DARK GREEN
Reuse: The process that uses the least amount of energy is to simply reuse a product as is.  Thus, a "previously-enjoyed" product is the greenest of greens.  "Previously-owned" office furniture goes through no process to get to you, other than the energy expended to deliver it to your door.
