Are You Having Trouble With Silver Recoveries?

Silver is oftentimes a difficult element to recover during metals analysis. If you are experiencing low recoveries for silver, it could have to do with your digestion matrix. Try avoiding HCl as a digestion acid. If this cannot be done, then keep the HCl content as high as possible and the silver content as low as possible through sample dilution. This will prevent silver from precipitating out of the sample and your recoveries should improve.
