Donate to the Campaign for Cabot
Be sure to make your tax-deductible contribution to the Campaign for Cabot before the end of the year. This annual fundraiser is the largest source of
funding for the PTO.
Make your donation online and honor a
special teacher and/or staff member if you wish. Matching gifts are also
welcome and are a great way to maximize your gift.
Your support is vital to the PTO. Every dollar
counts--contributions of any amount are appreciated. We are counting on you and
all Cabot families to participate in this campaign and give as generously as you
can. Click here to donate now!
Any questions,
contact Julie Bourgoin at jbourgoin@comcast.net.
Cabot lunches are going
green on Wednesdays! Our first Green Lunch
Wednesday is today, December 2. All students have been encouraged to wear
something green and pack a waste-free lunch. Fifth graders have been spreading the word in all classrooms. We encourage the entire Cabot community
to participate and help our school reduce lunch waste.
Jodi Vito
(JodiVito@verizon.net) and Leticia Meza-Riedewald (Leriedewald@gmail.com),
co-chairs, Green Committee Love the outdoors? Gardening-minded volunteers are needed to help Cabot Community Park, next to the kindergarten wing, reach its full potential. Margaret Wazuka (wazuka@gmail.com) and Chris Kjellson (chrisk729@yahoo.com), committee co-chairs, need help continuing to implement the phased planting plan developed by COGDesign; they also need help with regular maintenance
of the park. Email Margaret or Chris if you can pitch in.
Cabot directory updates
If you are ordered a directory but did not
receive one, please email Marya Van't Hul at mvhul@comcast.net.
If you have any changes/edits for your directory entry, send them to Cathy
DeVoe at cathydevoe@rcn.com. If you didn't receive a directory, there are still a few left.
Cost is $25 for PTO dues, which includes a directory.
Tongue depressors needed As part of his plan to start a running club in the spring, Mr. Tirrell is collecting tongue depressors. If you have any you can donate, please put them in his mailbox in the Cabot office.
Dog walkers, please exercise caution If you bring your canine friend with you when you drop off and/or pick up your child, please exercise caution on and near the blacktop and playground. Some students have been frightened by dogs recently, and we want to make sure that everyone is comfortable.

Newton Public Schools Announcements
|
Superintendent Search Update The Superintendent Search Committee, a representative group of educators, citizens, and students is actively working to help select Newton's next Superintendent.
Listed below are several opportunities for community members to weigh in on the top qualifications for our next superintendent. We encourage all who are interested to attend one of the open Parent / Community Forums on December 2nd or 3rd or to participate in one of the many focus groups scheduled on those days. The community sessions are open to all interested Newton residents. The focus groups are targeted at specific school and citizen groups.
All Cabot parents are invited to an open community forum to weigh in on the search for the next superintendent of Newton Public Schools. The forum will be moderated by the firm hired for this search. Participants will be asked to discuss the following:
- The most significant strengths of Newton Public Schools
- The most important challenges or issues facing the schools
- Characteristics you would like see in the new superintendent
- Any additional thoughts
