Dear Friends-
I just have to climb on my soapbox for one minute... Next weekend is Halloween and the kiddies will be out in full force collecting their candy. Please remind all the ghosts and goblins who come to your door and your own children to be very careful crossing the streets! Be sure to remind any new drivers in your family about the dangers of the streets this Saturday. My son, Chris, was hit by a car crossing the street on Halloween last year and I wouldn't wish that experience on anyone! He was okay, but the girl in the next trauma bay bed was not so lucky. PLEASE BE CAREFUL!!
OK - I'm climbing off now....
If you have K-6 students in your house, remember that Monday and Tuesday are half-days for teacher/parent conferences.
Oh wait, I'm climbing back on.....Remind your students to wash their hands.
Thanks to everyone who made the wine tasting such a success and so much fun. We all learned not judge a bottle of wine by its cork or its price. Screw tops are the wave of the future and we enjoyed a lot of wine under $10 a bottle.
Back to the Jets game....
Sincerely,
Jaimie Baker Westwood Regional Jr./Sr. High PSO

wine and cheese
thank you!
Wow, if you missed the wine, beer and cheese tasting, you missed a great event! The evening was not only educational, but fun! Joshua Wesson was extremely patient as the crowd got louder and louder the later into the evening it went! Remember, don't be intimidated by people who feel the need to "chew" their wine and it's okay to snicker at their snobbery! It all comes down to what tastes good to YOU!
Hopefully Joshua will come back next year and we can do something a little different! Vodka and Veggies? Sliders and Scotch?
Click here if you'd like to see what was tasted.
It wouldn't have been possible without the help and support of the following individuals and companies:
- A&P
- Jackie Malaret
- Kerri Olsen
- Best Cellars @ A&P
- Joanne Stutzer
- Linda Romeo
- Debbie Lerner
- Joe Soccodato

An extra special shout out to Jackie, Joanne, Emily and Linda for helping cut 20lbs of cheese into 1oz. cubes! Emily gets extra kudos for taking on the huge wheel of the stinky, yet delicious Stilton! We'll never look at cheese the same way! |

salvation army
bellringers needed
The Salvation Army is looking for volunteers to help ring the bells during the holiday season. If you have a few hours to spare, your help is desperately needed. All the money raised stays in the local community.
The Salvation Army pledges to help people of all religions, as well as those with no religious base. We have an official "position statement" that says: "All social welfare services to individuals or families are given without discrimination, according to the capacity of the organization to serve in meeting the needs of those involved." The red kettles seen on street corners and in front of shops throughout the Christmas season are perhaps the most quickly recognized symbol of The Salvation Army. The many "bellringers" who volunteer their time to encourage donations into these red kettles are quiet heroes to the communities they serve.
