Non-contact Gauging Technology
SICK's line of OD optical displacement sensors are reliable tools for optical gauging applications at extremely short ranges. They can measure distances as short as 24 mm with 0.02 micron resolution and have a fast response time of 1 ms. This makes non-contact OD optical displacement sensors an ideal alternate solution to mechanical measurement devices, such as LVDT probes.
The OD Value sensor captures the most minute differences in length, width, thickness, diameter, shape, position or eccentricity directly in the machine, without contact, with high accuracy and in-process.
OD Precision series handle the most varied applications regardless of whether rough or fine structured patterns are measured with a high degree of precision and resolution.

RR Floody goes Kaizen on their Vision Lab
Recently the employees of RR Floody Company got together for a Kaizen event involving ways to improve their Vision Evaluation Lab.
Kaizen is a system that involves every employee - from upper management to the cleaning crew. Everyone is encouraged to come up with small improvement suggestions on a regular basis. This is continuous process that encourages input from everyone involved in a process to seek ways for improvement.
"
The Kaizen philosophy is to do it better, make it better, improve it even if it isn't broken" said Vision Specialist, Chris Sproule. Our vision lab is a critical part of our business and of the service we provide our customers, so spending the time to rethink and reorganize is really going to make it more useful and productive."
As a result of the Kaizen discussions the new vision lab includes 2 new work stations. The extensive lighting inventory has been organized, cataloged and labeled making it much easier to find the right light for each customer evaluation. Learn more about Kaizen >>>
