Employee Spotlight - Lyn Payne, Office Supervisor

Lyn PayneWhat do you like best about working at R.R.Floody?

I like the closeness of working with the Floody team.  We communicate with each other so well that it makes the job so much easier.  You always know what's going on and it makes for a great team atmosphere.

How long have you been at RRF?

I have been at RRF for 21 years, now.  I started as a part time position and have had several positions over the years.  I know pretty much every aspect of the company which is really helpful in my current role as Office Supervisor.

What do you like to do outside of RRF?

I enjoy movies, reading and walking, but my favorite activity is bowling.  I bowl 2 times a week.  Each year I go to the USBC Nationals and IL State tournaments.  The last time I went, it was held in Reno Nevada.

So what is your favorite bowling story?

That's easy, it was when I bowled on Wednesday night at the Cherry Bowl, I rolled 5 strikes in a row!  My knees were wobbly because I was so nervous.  I never bowled so well.  I ended up with a 264 game!

What are some key lessons you have taken from your career thus far?

Always try to please the customer and keep in touch with them.  If there is a problem let them know up front so that we can find a solution or expedite a delivery, so that in the end they are happy.

Describe your typical day.

I answer Sales Calls from customers and all the aspects of ordering and verifying shipping info for the orders.  I put together quotes for the salesmen.  I am also involved with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.  Being involved in so many functions is why the great communication we have with one another is SO important.

Do you have a favorite Sports Team?

Yes, the Minnesota Vikings

Why the Vikings, if you're in Illinois shouldn't you be a Bears fan?  And don't you take heat for that?

I've always liked Minnesota.  I think it's partly because there are 2 other big fans of the Vikings at Floody to keep the hope of a Superbowl win.  Since they did not make it this year I will stay with the division and root for the Packers.  Yes, I take some heat for it now and then, but there are also a lot of Packer fans here in Rockford, so it's not unheard of to root for another team.
