Estate Planning Workshop September 26
The Office of Development, along with Lutheran Outdoor Ministries in Ohio, will sponsor a Planned Giving Seminar from 9 a.m. to noon, September 26. Topics covered include wills, bequests, charitable giving, and planned giving strategies. The free seminar includes lunch. New Academic Year Gets Underway
Students in breezewayStudents returned to campus on September 2, 2008, with the start of Fall Term. See a complete list of fall courses and the academic calendar for the 2008-09 academic year.

The January Term will begin on January 5, 2009. Among the J-Term courses offered will be a trip to the Holy Land led by Dr. Rod Hutton and Dr. Mary Hughes. For more information about the trip click here.

Sojourners' Jim Wallis Coming to Trinity
Seminary exteriorPreacher, activist and editor of Sojourners magazine Jim Wallis will provide this year's T.A. Kantonen lecture on Thursday, September 25, during Trinity Days 2008.

Wallis will address "The Meaning of Prophetic Politics in an Election Year" during a lecture and public forum in the Gloria Dei Worship Center. The day's events begin with worship at 10 a.m., followed by the keynote address at 1:30 p.m. Wallis also will be presented with the Sylvester C. Michelfelder Award for Christian Service. A public forum at 4 p.m. will include Wallis, Professor Jim Childs, Trinity alum Drew Genszler of the ELCA's Washington Office, and Jacqueline Bussie, professor of religion at Capital University. Hughes Named to Presidential Chair
Cross over Gloria Dei Dr. Mary E. Hughes will be installed into the Luther Frederick Keil and Mary Ruth Slater Keil Presidential Chair in Christian Education during a Service of Eucharist and Installation at 10 a.m., September 22, in the Gloria Dei Worship Center. Dr. Hughes has taught Christian Education at Trinity since 1981. She also serves as director of the Master of Arts in Lay Ministry and Master of Theological Studies programs, and is co-director of the Center for Educational Ministry in the Parish. Following the service at 11:15, Dr. Hughes will give a presentation entitled "Brain Friendly Theological Education."
Langknecht Named to Haman-Pfahler Chair
Students in breezewayThe Rev. Dr. Henry J. Langknecht will be installed into the Haman-Pfahler Chair in Christian Communications during a Service of Eucharist and Installation at 10 a.m., October 15, in the Gloria Dei Worship Center. A 1986 Trinity graduate, Dr. Langknecht has taught homiletics and Christian communication at Trinity since 2000. He also serves as Trinity's Worship Life Coordinator. Following the service at 11:15 a.m., Dr. Langknecht will present, "When the Bible Becomes Living Scripture."
