Pittcon 2013
Thank you to those of you who exhibited at Pittcon 2012 in Orlando last month. We hope your experience was positive. If you have any comments, positive or negative, about your exhibiting experience, you are welcome to share them with us at expo@pittcon.org.

The Power Point presentation from the Thursday Exhibitor Meeting during Pittcon 2012 is now available on our website. This presentation includes information from Pittcon and Philadelphia representatives concerning Pittcon 2013.

We are delighted to be working with you as we plan for our inaugural use of the recently expanded Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This beautiful facility is located in the heart of the northeastern corridor of laboratory sciences that houses our country's largest numbers of consumers of modern scientific equipment and laboratory supplies.

Our selection of the 2013 site is in response to the expressed interests of our loyal exhibitor base. You have requested a return to the northeast to better serve the huge demographic of laboratory scientists who live and work in that region and we have responded.

The floor space available to us in Philadelphia is somewhat smaller than we have had in the past. We are working to figure out what functions other than exhibitors' booths and seminar rooms will be accommodated on the show floor. For that reason, we are asking that exhibitors that plan to increase their space from 2012 levels let us know their plans.

This is not a requirement, nor are we asking for a commitment at this time, but if you have tentative plans to increase your exhibiting space for 2013, please contact us at expo@pittcon.org to let us know; it will help us with our planning process.

The Spring Exhibitors Meeting for Pittcon 2013 will be held in Philadelphia on Thursday, May 31 and Friday, June 1, 2012. The venue for the meeting will be the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown, 1201 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107-2817. The hotel is directly connected to the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

The meeting will begin at 8:30 AM on Thursday and will conclude with lunch on Friday. Highlights of the Spring Exhibitor Meeting will include:
  • tour of the Pennsylvania Convention Center,
  • discussion of how to work with labor in Philadelphia (including the rights and responsibilities of exhibitors, Pittcon, GES, labor and all other parties),
  • Philadelphia-specific marketing initiatives being undertaken by Pittcon and the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau,
  • and a presentation by Ethnometrics regarding traffic flow in the Convention Center during the True Value Show in August 2010. The True Value Show was the first trade show to use the entire exposition floor after the recent expansion of the Convention Center.
Please plan to join us in Philadelphia on May 31 and June 1. More information about the meeting arrangements will be sent to you soon.
