Greetings! What a crazy time it is--anxious, hopeful, surprising. Even the weather seems unsettled, waffling between peevish rain and improbable warmth here. I have taken to repeating this line from T.S. Eliot: I said to my soul, be still. The creative process craves winter, and I work on stillness at the drawing board. Just listening. Only watching. Letting the ideas simmer and learning patience, again and again. Here's what I've been
wrapping up.

More MURALS
|
| These two murals were designed by me, but most of the work was done by a small group of kids. Patients in Portland's Legacy Emmanuel Children's Hospital collaged "The Animals Arrive" for the family waiting room. (magazine paper, 2x3 feet). The Garden mural graces Luscher Farms Gardens in West Linn, OR and was painted by Junior Gardeners (house paint, 4x16 feet). All these materials were donated and/or recycled. Hooray for Creative ReUse! |
What about GIFTS?
|
| In my family, we're fond of BOOKS. You can continue to buy autographed Rain Stompers on my website for $20. Order three or more and get a free sampler of greeting cards. (If you're in town, stop by one of the fairs listed and save the shipping cost.)
THANK YOU to loyal fans who have bought my greeting cards for the last seven years. I am leaving the card market to concentrate on bigger
art endeavors, and donating my remainder stock to fabulous non-profits (contact me if you work for one!) For original holiday cards, these are independent artists that I recommend supporting:

RAIN STOMPER update
|
|
The Rain Stomper has made its way into the world. A perk of publishing has been hearing from old friends and teachers, and I am delighted to report that my hometown (Corning, IA) will now be selling autographed copies at The Fickle Frog. My favorite reviews have come from kids, as seen in my FIRST fan mail from Mrs. McCollum's second grade class. My author-ly visits to local schools and libraries will continue in 2009; but I have dedicated this winter to my new stories, delightfully unpolished and slogging their way across publisher's desks. You'll learn all about these next year.
