The DRAWING BOARD
Art Update
Summer 2008
Greetings!
After a lazy Portland summer, fall is picking up with new events.  The Rain Stomper is finally "on the shelves" and has received some good reviews!  I'll be starting readings and author visits to schools and libraries in September.  Now that I'm becoming more of an, ahem, professional, I also have a fabulous new website.  Please take a gander...
The Rain Stomper ARRIVES!
The Rain Stomper will be in bookstores, libraries, and major online retailers around the country by September 1st.  (If you CAN'T find the book at your local haunts, please ask them to order it.)  Support the dream by buying your own copy, and a copy for every child you know!  You can order AUTOGRAPHED COPIES directly from me via the store on my website. (The first 50 customers will get free greeting cards.)  Find more info about the book on my website.
Rain Stomper coverOn the first day of spring, Jazmin flipped out of bed.  She twirled her baton.
She swirled in her new red suit.  Today was the day of her big parade!
But then the clouds crowd in.  The sky darkens.
Thunder roars.  And the rain begins...
  SLAP clatter clatter SLAP SLAP!

Is Jazmin's parade ruined?  Or can she fight back and save the day?

WEBSITE RENOVATION

My website has matured to give my art more space to grow.  Browse the new portfolio format and additional pages about the book and my teaching services.  There may be kinks; I would love your feedback on the general 'readability' and other things you'd like to see included.  Designed by Portlander Annette Thurston.

MURAL INSTALLATION

standing with mural"Turning the Page" is now installed in the children's room of the newly-opened Tualatin Public Library.  This picture focuses on the magical world that emerges when we open books.  It took me approximately 200 hours and 200 magazines to create the 8x8 foot all-collage mural, the largest piece of art I have ever made.  Thanks to Mark Johnson for building the frame and Bridgeport Elementary students for helping cut and paste.    Read more about me and this public art program in this excerpt from the Tualatin Times.
