What am I waiting for? |
Greetings!
It turns out I was the culprit behind my computer catastrophe when I unsuccessfully downloaded a brand-name anti-virus software. My PC didn't need protection from the world wide web, it needed protection from me! The silver lining? Living an unplugged life for almost three weeks between trying to solve the problem on my own before I finally took the computer in for resuscitation. Theresa Jusilla's quest is making her art her life. Yet her journey began in earnest only when she asked herself: "What am I waiting for?"
I have come to trust implicitly that each month's Quest Maker will share an insight that I need to hear at that moment. In this case, I found myself asking the same question.
Early last year I had declared my intention to turn the Quest Maker interviews and the accompanying Journal Sparkers into a book. In the beginning, I made significant headway in writing my book proposal, excited by the possibilities of gathering in one place the journeys of the incredible women I have interviewed. Then several new directions and ideas sent me off on one path and then another, diverting me from moving forward. I put the proposal aside where it languished from neglect. Theresa's question had brought me up short. What am I waiting for?
My book won't manifest itself without taking a step forward every single day that will bring me closer to my own dream. Showing up on the page is my real quest, the one that excites me and scares me at the same time. It is my heart's desire. I need to follow Theresa's lead to be in action, let go and trust that beneficial things will show up as they have for her.
PS. Theresa's favorite flower is a yellow rose tinged with pink.

Meet Quest Maker Theresa Jussila |
Theresa Jussila of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, toiled for 15 years in a stressful job. While it paid a good salary and supported her family, it drained her spirit. Two health scares made Theresa realize she needed to make some changes. So she set her intention to manifest her dream: by the time she was 50, she would be doing art again. Theresa didn't stop there; she declared her intention to friends and family alike and let her subconscious guide her path, step by step. At 48, she asked herself, "What am I waiting for?" That question led her to apply and be accepted at a renowned juried art show and then give her two-week notice to make art the focal point in her life.

January Journal Sparker
|
With its questions and exercises, a Journal Sparker aims to spark reflection or inspire you to take the next step on your journey to where you want to be.
Make the most of what you have, when you have it, where you are.
-Eleanor Roosevelt
In this month's Journal Sparker, I wanted to touch on how budding entrepreneurs like Theresa can make the most of the world wide web to move their dreams forward. That's why I called on friend and web expert Margy Rydzynski to share tips on how you can make the most of your web presence on a shoestring budget.
We've created a cover sheet if you'd like to begin a Journal Sparker binder.
