When will we be our priority?
|
Greetings!,
"From beginning to end, what a bountiful month! Your Next Quest Chronicles enters its second year of publication with this issue. In mid-month, I reached more than 23,000 people around the world when my mentor Valerie Young invited me to write the guest article for her Changing Course e-newsletter. [Click here to read Issue 217 with my article, "All This Talk About Age."]
Then there was the Convention for Re-invention in Westbrook, Conn. on October 1. Once my brother Steve learned about this all-day seminar celebrating women re-inventing themselves, he knew I'd be interested. He was right! When he invited me to attend as his and my sister-in-law Janice's guest, how could I say anything except YES?
Organized by Idea Group Productions, it more than lived up to what Anne Garland, its creator, described as "a spa day for the soul, celebrating and inspiring women coming into their own or rethinking where they are going!" Not only did I leave inspired and energized, I also met this month's Quest Maker, Ronnie Ann Ryan, who set out on her own quest when she turned 40.
In last month's survey, I had asked "When you think about pursuing your own quest, what is your biggest challenge?" For many of you, it was time. [Click here to read the Connecting the Dots blog post inspired by the responses to this thought-provoking question.]
What I have learned from every Quest Maker I've interviewed is that somehow and someway she wrested time from her day or night to make it happen, even if it was just one hour at a time. I re-learned it again this month as I interviewed Ronnie Ann Ryan.
Ronnie observed that many of her clients tell her they want to find love, they just don't have the time to go looking for it. Except, it's not about having time, it's about making time for what really matters to us. Whatever our quest, we won't realize our own dream without making it a priority and claiming the time to make it happen.
The question we all must answer is: When will we be our priority?
PS Many of you graciously responded to last month's survey. Thank you for making the time. I was gratified to learn you find the newsletter timely, inspiring, practical and interesting. I was thrilled to read this: "Surprisingly I even read those that don't at first sound like a connection for me, but they turn out to be."
Your suggestions have led to several cosmetic changes. The font is darker, making it easier to read. The beginning of the interview no longer appears in the newsletter and on the Quest Maker page; it now begins once you click through. And by popular demand, the newsletter will still arrive in your mailbox on the last Tuesday of the month. By the way, Ronnie's favorite flower is a bright pink gerbera daisy.

Meet Quest Maker Ronnie Ann Ryan
|
At the Convention for Re-Invention we could choose to attend seminars focused on career, spirit or body. In the mood for some fun after lunch, I couldn't resist Ronnie Ann Ryan's session, "How to Flirt." I'm always open to learning more about how to tap into my feminine power and charm. As soon as I saw Ronnie wearing this red feather boa, I knew I'd made the right choice!
When Ronnie turned 40, she decided she didn't want to be single
anymore and set out on her own quest to change that. She did! In the
process, her journey led to a new career - she became The Dating Coach. Author of MANifesting Mr. Right, Ronnie is now a certified coach, speaker and workshop leader. When I learned she called her business It's Never Too Late Too Love, that clinched it for me: I knew I wanted to interview her! If there's one thing I've learned from every Quest Maker I've met on my journey - it's never too late to pursue your dream! .

Do you know a woman in her 40s or beyond who declared "now it's my
time," and realized her dream, just like Louise Grasmere has done? Perhaps she's a friend, a family member, an
