In the Realm of One, Who Do You Choose to Be?
|
Greetings!
Welcome to Your Next Quest (YNQ)!
You're reading the premiere issue of Your Next Quest Chronicles,
a monthly e-newsletter with stories and news to take with you as you pursue living the life you
love and becoming the queen of your realm.
Let's face it.
Many of us gladly, and without any hesitation, regularly take on quests for our loved ones, yet procrastinate about launching our own. For many of us, it's only when we reach a certain age, that we're ready to say, "You know, now it's my time."
Women like us have been called baby boomers, "middle-escents" and prime time women. Many of us have called ourselves ladies in waiting (on others). I call us Queens of our own realm, our own Destiny, powerful women ready to take the next step.
This is what I believe.
Each of you is a realm of one. In your realm you can be a subject. Or in your realm you can be queen. In your realm, you can choose to be buffeted by circumstance or take control of the "reigns." Who do you choose to be: subject or queen?
Wait! Are you thinking: "There's no way I can concentrate on myself right now with all that's going on?" Call me Pollyanna, for I disagree. What better time than now to declare that it's your time to thrive, no matter what! Focusing on what you can change
--YOU
-- one next step at a time is the most positive affirmation you can make.
What to expect in YNQ Chronicles each month.
Sometimes all it takes to move forward is learning about someone who has been right where you are now.
You'll meet a Quest Maker, a woman who has made her dream happen, be it personal or professional. She'll share the challenges she faced and the insights she gained as she found her path to success.
You may wonder where do I even begin? Or what should be my next step?
Whether you've already undertaken your own exploration or aspire to begin it, you'll find a YNQ Journal Sparker-a "life-sheet" for your journal. Think of it as a jumping off point, a chance to reflect on a quotation and respond to some questions that can help prepare you for the next stretch of your journey.
I've made the choice to be queen of my own realm. I hope you'll join me by claiming your own realm and starting the journey to where you want to be!

Interview with Quest Maker Hilary Cooper-Kenny
|
From prison nurse to master weaver Eight years ago when Hilary Cooper-Kenny was 53 she began her "next quest." That's when she launched her journey from being maximum security prison nurse to becoming a master weaver. Discover how Hilary found what Thoreau describes as "a success unexpected in common hours."
At what point in your life did you decide to embark on your quest? I wanted to weave my whole life, except I was intimidated by it. I did everything else, from hooking rugs to knitting, except weaving. I had been working for the State as a corrections nurse in a maximum security prison for 17 years. I was really discouraged with it and wanted to get out, yet I wanted my 20 years. Then I was asked to join a mental health unit, still at the prison but in a different environment.
What's one thing you wish you'd known as you set off on your journey? I had put off learning to weave because it was something so alien to me. I wish I hadn't waited so long to do this. I wish someone had got me behind me when I was 12. Now my biggest regret is that I could have been weaving for the last 30 years. The thing that matters most to me is the thing I was afraid of doing.

October's Journal Sparker
|
"If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and
endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a
success unexpected in common hours."-Henry David Thoreau For Hilary, Thoreau's words are so meaningful that she includes them on her own website. Reflecting on it and then answering the questions in this month's Journal Sparker will help you decide what next step you might take on your journey. We've also created a cover sheet if you would like to begin a binder for your Journal Sparkers. |
| Do you know a Quest Maker, a woman who has realized her dream?
|

Do you know a woman in her 40s or beyond who declared "now it's my
time," and realized her dream, just like Hilary Cooper-Kenny has done? Perhaps she's a friend, a family member, an
acquaintance. Perhaps it's you! If she or you would like to considered for an upcoming Quest Maker column in the Chronicles, please send me an email with a brief description and the best way to reach her.
