"100 Closed Lockers"
Suppose you're in a hallway lined with 100 closed lockers.
You begin by opening every locker. Then you close every second locker. Then you go to every third locker and open it (if it's closed) or close it (if it's open). Let's call this action toggling a locker. Continue toggling every nth locker on pass number n. After 100 passes, where you toggle only locker #100, how many lockers are open?

TRANSFORM INSIGHTS INTO ACTION |
|
|
Like many of us, in mid-February the world watched as IBM's Watson took on the two Jeopardy! human legends in a competition unlike the show had ever seen.
Watson, named after IBM founder Thomas J. Watson, was built by a team of IBM scientists who set out to accomplish a grand challenge-to build a computing system that rivals a human's ability to answer questions posed in natural language with speed, accuracy, and confidence.
In a recent IBM publication, "Transform insights into action: IBM's Watson and the future of data", the authors pose an interesting question. While Watson represents a technological milestone, the real pioneers will be the people and organizations that embrace this innovation and turn its potential into results. How can Watson-like analytics capabilities transform your business? How does your organization's use of "Big Data" management and business analytics compare to that of top-performing companies?

| IMPLEMENTING COLUMN LEVEL DATA SECURITY WITHIN IBM COGNOS |
Volume 3, Episode 3: Implementing Column Level Data Security within IBM Cognos
This podcast demonstrates how to apply security to prevent users from seeing specific data. This is done by creating a security group in the Cognos Namespace and editing a Column Definition within Framework Manager. The technique will enforce data security even if the users are allowed to create reports, they are shielded from viewing the actual data.
