Hello and welcome to the October Newsletter for Jen Grisanti Consultancy Inc.

My themes this month are persuasion and self-awareness.  What is the best way to sell your ideas?  Why do some people seem to be able to sell their ideas so easily and get further up the ladder, while others are left at the bottom?  When I think about this with television and features, I often wonder what specifically happens in meetings that leads to the sell.  Is it the value of the idea or is it the art of the persuader?  When you look at the percentage of what works and what does not work, it makes you wonder.  In the book, THE ART OF WOO, authors G. Richard Shell and Mario Moussa, Directors of the Wharton School's Strategic Persuasion Workshop, give very insightful tips on how to authentically woo through self-awareness.  For more, go to my BLOG

FRIDAY NIGHT DRINKS
Friday Night Drinks is a networking mixer for entertainment professionals that meets on the first Friday of every month.  It is an opportunity to cultivate relationships and make new friends who share your passion.  The next one is Friday, November 6, 2009 at the X Bar in the Century Plaza Hotel at 2025 Ave. of the Stars from 7:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.  All are welcome.  With validation, parking is $6.00.

I am proud to announce my incredible new interviews with Michael Rauch, the Executive Producer of the new hit show, ROYAL PAINS, and Steven Pressfield, author of The War of Art and so many other outstanding novels.  You can listen to these on my website or iTunes.

In October, I will have two incredible interviews.  The first is with the inspiring writing team from  LIE TO ME, TJ Brady and Rasheed Newson, and the second is with the remarkably talented, Craig Sweeny, Co-EP on MEDIUM, now on CBS.

I am excited to announce that in November I will be interviewing the authors, Tom Malloy, writer of the book BANKROLL: A New Approach To Financing Feature Films and Jeremy Juuso, writer of the book, GETTING THE MONEY A Step-by-Step Guide for Writing Business Plans for Film.  In Novermber I will also be interviewing Rhett Reese, writer of the big feature hit, ZOMBIELAND.

RESTAURANT RECOMMENDATIONS
TAVERN - Brentwood
This restaurant is gorgeous!  The ambiance is very elegant.  The food is delicious.  I recommend the summer fruit salad with argula and marcona almonds and the summer squash gratin with corn, poblanos and queso fresco.

BANDERA - Brentwood
This is honestly becoming one of my favorite restaurants.  I LOVE the ambiance.  It has AMAZING food at a reasonable price.  They have a piano player in the bar and the whole feel of the place is very inviting.  I recommend the tuna poke with shrimp and avocado, the vegetarian selection and the banana cream pie with caramel and crushed chocolate.  Yum!!
