SPEAKING AT THE SCREENWRITING EXPO ON FRIDAY OCTOBER 16, 2009 AT 4:00 P.M. - 5:30 P.M.
In this class, Jen Grisanti will help to educate and empower the participants on tools to help guide their writing careers in television and film. After being a studio executive for over a decade at top studios, Grisanti will share her experiences of staffing writers, what executives look for in meetings, what scripts stand out and why and how the individual can learn to create the career that they want. Jen will also go into the best ways to find representation and how to make the right choices.

SCRIPTWRITER'S NETWORK SPEAKER SERIES - CLASS ON FINDING YOUR VOICE, NOVEMBER 21, 2009

Jen Grisanti feels that Finding Your Voice is one of the key ingredients to successful writing. Jen will guide you through exercises that will help you to access your story, get in touch with your life-identifying moments and learn how to integrate them into your story. When you are able to find your voice, it will strengthen your writing and make your scripts stand out.

FRIDAY NIGHT DRINKS
Friday Night Drinks is a networking mixer for entertainment professionals that meets on the first Friday of every month.  It is an opportunity to cultivate relationships and make new friends who share your passion.  The next one is Friday, October 2, 2009 at the X Bar in the Century Plaza Hotel at 2025 Ave. of the Stars from 7:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.  All are welcome.  With validation, parking is $6.00.

My upcoming guest interviews include Michael Rauch, the Executive Producer of the new hit show, ROYAL PAINS, and Steven Pressfield, author of The War of Art and so many other outstanding books.  In October, I will have two incredible interviews.  The first is with the inspiring writing team from  LIE TO ME, TJ Brady and Rasheed Newson and the second is with the remarkably talented, Craig Sweeny, Co-EP on MEDIUM now on CBS.

In November, I am excited to announce that I will be interviewing the authors, Tom Malloy, writer of the book BANKROLL: A New Approach To Financing Feature Films and Jeremy Juuso, writer of the book, GETTING THE MONEY A Step-by-Step Guide for Writing Business Plans for Film.

NEW SERIES: NOTES ON CRAFT

This autumn, the Writers Guild Foundation will host a series of six evenings entitled Notes on Craft. Each evening will feature two or three writers in conversation with Academy-nominated writer Dan Petrie Jr. (Beverly Hills Cop; The Big Easy) on various aspects of the screenwriting craft. The formal part of the evening will be followed by an audience Q & A.

On Monday, October 5, Chad Gervich will be hosting and moderating Mediabistro's PITCH SLAM, where you guys-- Hollywood's future writers and producers-- get to pitch your TV ideas to a panel of industry professionals.

Basically, we're gathering some of television's top agents, producers, and execs to hear YOUR ideas!  Enrollment is limited, but everyone who signs up gets a chance to pitch, then receive feedback from the panel of experts on their idea, their pitching style, etc.  If you plan on being the next Josh Schwartz, Matthew Weiner, or Mark Burnett, this is a great chance to meet some top-notch industry professionals... and receive invaluable pitching advice and experience.
