A CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS AND SERVICE MINDED PEOPLE
For almost forty years ABANA has provided services to all blacksmith throughout the world. If ABANA is to maintain this preeminent position as a leader in the field of blacksmithing, and a clearing house of information for the blacksmith, we need your help.
First and foremost, we are in our annual election cycle. Your Board of Directors wants each and every member to give some serious thought about considering position on the Board. If you determine that you do not wish to run, we ask that you think of those members you know would be qualified and ask them to consider the possibility. Having good dedicated board members is a prerequisite for a great organization. Please remember, the more candidates we having running for office the better our chances for success.
To run for election, one is required to be an ABANA member in good standing and provide the following:
· A nominating petition signed by at least 10 ABANA members,
· a photograph
· and candidate statement
submitted to the central office by April 15, 2011
All candidates who meet this deadline will be listed on the official ballot form.
All candidates statements will be published on this web site as they are available.
Candidates meeting all the criteria above and submitted by Mar 15, 2011 (the editorial deadline for the Anvil's Ring) will also have candidates statements and photo published in the Anvil's Ring.

Notice of election published in the Fall issue of The Anvil's Ring
March 15, 2011:
Nominations deadline for candidate's statements to be published in the election issue of the Anvil's Ring.
April 15, 2011:
Nominations deadline date for candidate to be on ballot, submitted to the ABANA Central Office:

June 1, 2011: Ballot mailing in the Anvils Ring
August 15, 2011:

Notification to elected Board members (exact date TBD)
Notifications will be made as soon as possible.
November, 2011:
Board Meeting (exact date TBD, site TBD - probably in Rapid City, SD). New Board members assume their duties.
In addition the five board positions open on the Board of Directors, ABANA needs volunteers with expertise in various fields wiling to serve on Committees and to help ABANA . These fields include, but are not limited to:
Computer
Accounting
Marketing
Legal
Education
Publishing
If you have a skill in any of these areas and are willing to volunteer your time to ABANA, please contact:

What is your reward for volunteering? Well the pay is lousy, and the hours are long. But along the way, you will get to meet some great people and blacksmith, as well as, that personal satisfaction that comes from knowing the work you accomplished will guarantee ABANA will be there for another forty years.
