    Open and close parks, provide general park information, traffic control, litter pickup and firewood sales in exchange for RV site.

Concessions at county parks

     Vendors will be on site this summer at Kayak, Wenberg, Lake Goodwin and Wyatt County Parks, where you can buy ice cream or a hot dog and rent a boat!

  Call 360-805-6700 to reserve large or small buildings and RV sites with plenty of parking and easy access at the Evergreen Fairgrounds RV Park.

2011 Sundquist Family Movies in the Park

     Enjoy watching movies under the stars this summer at Willis Tucker Community Park. This year's lineup includes:

  • July 14: Back to the Future
  • July 21: Despicable Me
  • July 28: Twilight Eclipse
  • August 4: Toy Story 3
  • August 11: Up
  • August 18: Enchanted

     Sundquist Family Homes is again sponsoring our ever popular Movies in the Park series. The Mill Creek Lions Club, Sno-Isle Libraries, Gold Creek Community Church's bouncy house and Mill Creek YMCA are providing youth activities beginning at 7 p.m. prior to the movie.

Swim LessonMcCollum County Park Pool offers child water safety lessons

     Register now for swim lessons inour outdoor pool. 

     Kids and water go together like peanut butter and jelly. The single, most effective thing parents can do to protect their children from drowning is to ensure they know how to swim. Learning how to swim can save a child's life as well as provide a fun way to encourage exercise.

golfer cartoonThrasher's Corner Pub 9th Annual Charity Golf Tournament

   Thrasher's Corner Pub & Grill will host its annual benefit golf tournament at Gleneagle Golf Course in Arlington, beginning 8 a.m. Saturday, July 16, with a shotgun start. Proceeds benefit Snohomish County Parks & Recreation's Helping Hands Program, which supports the department's youth programs and swim lessons for underprivileged children.
     Lunch is served at Thrasher's Corner Pub & Grill. Prizes such as cases of steaks provided by Sysco Meats are awarded to the winning team, longest drive, ladies' longest drive, closest to the pin and ladies' closest to the pin. Find more information at www.thrasherscornerpub.com  or 425-481-0211.

Recreation activities in July 
     Swimming:  Register now for swim lessons at McCollum Park Pool. Find more information about lessons, the swim team and pool rentals at www.snocoparks.org/swimlessons.

     Skate BBQ at the Martha Lake Airfield Skate Park, Sun., July 24BC Surf & Sport is throwing a Skateboard BBQ at the Martha Lake Skatepark on Sun., July 24 from 12-2pm.  We'll be giving away hot dogs, soda, water, skateboards, wheels and clothing along with sponsors Powell Skateboards, Bones Wheels, Bones Bearings, and Bandwagon.  This event is free to the public. 

 

    Evergreen State Fairgrounds events:  Rodeo de Mexicano, horse shows (Region 5 Arabian, Paint, Northwest Peruvian), Great Northwest Rabbit Show, Mixed Martial Arts Battle in the Barn (in the new events center), Washington Arms Collectors Gun Show, Monroe Indoor Swap Meet and Auto Races on the Speedway. Farmers Market at Willis Tucker Park 

Farmers' Market comes to Willis Tucker Park
     Be sure to stop by the Willis Tucker Community Park Farmers' Market on Friday afternoons and evenings this summer from 3 p.m to 7 p.m. 
     The produce is (finally) here! Hayton Farms and Bautista Farms join us with a variety of produce (strawberries, lettuce, carrots, peas, bok choy, apples, cherries, beets, garlic and asparagus).
     Four new vendors have joined us this week. Holmquist Hazelnut Orchard, Frontier Flyers (locally-produced honey), K's Jewelry Unique Creations and Turned Treasures have been added to the already great options including Snohomish Bakery, Huckleberry Vendors, Hawaiian Paradise (shaved ice), Martin Family Orchards and Patty Pan Grill.

Centennial Trail News

B.I.K.E.S. Club grant New gates on the Centenial Trail

Snohomish County received a $2,500 grant from the B.I.K.E.S. Club of Snohomish County to help the parks department remove 16 sets of baffle gates with bollards on the Centennial Trail. The original baffle gates with bollards have been a challenge for bicycle users to navigate.

BC Cancer Ride

On June 19, 3,000 riders rode the Centennial Trail from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on their ride from Vancouver BC to Seattle. They raised $11.1 million for cancer research and treatment.
