WA - E-News
booster

Dear WA Community,

Please join me in thanking our coaches and all those who mentored our student-athletes this year.  We are very blessed to have so many Christ-honoring professionals who care deeply for Jesus, our children and athletic excellence.  Their Christ-honoring commitment to our children, athletics and WA is greatly appreciated.

On Friday, May 4, we celebrated God's Kingdom work and blessings in our  varsity athletes at the annual Booster Club Athletic Awards Program. It was a special evening of fun, food and fellowship.  We also recognized the remarkable athletic accomplishments of our students.

During the program, we celebrated who God is and what He is doing in athletics at WA. We also recognized and thanked our coaches, teams, volunteers and student-athletes. We had a special time of prayer for our seniors and gave each of them a FCA Sports New Testament Pocket Bible to take to college. If your senior athlete did not get one, please stop by the Athletic Office and see Casey Jarvis, to pick up a copy. Also, we had a photographer taking pictures during the program. If you are interested in purchasing a picture from the program, please go to www.davesummerill.com. Click on "your events" and look for WA Sports Award Banquet.

A special thank you goes Shannon Wallhoff and Casey Jarvis for their extraordinary work in athletics during the school year and with the awards program. They were instrumental with all of our athletic events and the May 4th award  program's success. I would also like to thank the Booster Club and all of our volunteers for their helping hands throughout the school year. We couldn't do what we do in athletics at WA without their Christ-honoring prayers and support.

In closing, we are very proud of our student-athletes and their accomplishments. May God continue to inspire them to excel with their gifts and talents in athletics for His glory and as a platform to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Well done, to all of our student-athletes, coaches, volunteers and fans this school year.

Praise God for His people, provisions and providential blessings in athletics at WA this year.

A special way to capture the blessings of your child is through the "Pathway of Excellence Commemorative Brick Program."  A brick can be engraved and placed in the front pathway of our school-alumni truly enjoy seeing their names on the
"Pathway of Excellence." You may have your child's name engraved on it with a favorite Bible verse, special message, etc. You may also want to thank a special teacher, coach or mentor, by engraving a brick for them. A special letter will be sent to the individual(s) you want to recognize.

Proceeds from the "Pathway of Excellence" will be used to support our Annual Fund, helping to close the gap between tuition and fees, and what it actually costs to provide a quality, Christ-honoring education at a school of excellence, like WA.

Who's In Your Social Network

Online social networking is just a normal part of life for most teens, but many discover too late, that it can lead to distorted relationships and even stunted personal character. Pam Stenzel is the founder of "Enlighten Communications," an organization that empowers parents, youth leaders and educators to lead informed discussions on sexual abstinence and its benefits. She speaks to over 500,000 teens a year.

Pam shares with Laura Bishop, great information about her tech-friendly guidebook Who's In Your Social Network?, a book that will help teens and pre-teens think through the dangers and opportunities of Facebook and other social networks, and set healthy boundaries that will keep their hearts and minds, safe and strong.
