Westminster Academy | Devoted to Christ - Dedicated to Excellence

Dr. Leo Orsino HeadshotDear WA Community,

I am still smiling from this year's Madrigal Dinner-it was a remarkable show. The food, fellowship and performance was magnificent. I laughed during many scenes and I was moved by the Gospel message and the exceptional performances-I wanted more. I always enjoy watching our student-performers share their gifts for God's glory. It was fun watching our students have so much fun. We are truly blessed by our student-artists and performers as well as our fine arts professionals.

Many thanks to our countless volunteers and of course, our extraordinary fine arts team. I cannot thank them enough for how the Madrigal Dinner represented God and WA in a breathtaking way.

The comments throughout the evening said it all:

        "It was amazing"

        "Super-creative"

        "The script was brilliant"

"Mrs. Wilson and Mrs. Groves are incredibly talented"

"Very important educational experience for all students involved"

        "The students were mesmerizing."

Well done and kudos to our fine arts and facilities teams. We are very thankful for you and blessed by your Kingdom work.

May God continue to use the Madrigal Dinner as well as our other Christmas programs to share the Good News of Great Joy for His glory.

Blessings to you and your family in the Name of Jesus Christ,

WA Parent Symposiums

At Westminster Academy, we are pleased to offer our parents special Parent Symposiums to inform our school community on a variety of topics.  Since the 2011-2012 school year, two Parent Symposiums have been held, one on the theology that WA is built upon, and one on conflict resolution.

Westminster Academy's Theological Foundation

On Monday, September 19, an informative symposium was held about the biblical and theological worldview of Westminster Academy. Together we learned the doctrinal beliefs that our students are taught in Bible class and throughout our curriculum. Guests enjoyed our panel of faculty and staff, including Dr. Orsino and Mr. Critch, as well as upper school Bible faculty.

Conflict Resolution

On Tuesday, November 15, an informative symposium was held with Tony Bartoli. Tony was born with Cerebral Palsy and learned to overcome physical and mental challenges. He shared with parents his personal testimony and message that is especially relevant to today's "bully-culture" found in most schools today. Tony also shared his message in a special chapel with our students on November 16.  You may hear Tony's "Homeroom" radio interview that aired on GraceFM 90.3 FM by clicking here.

Annual Auction 2012

Auction
We are thrilled to host our annual dinner auction, which will be held on February 4, 2012, at Hugh's Culinary Center. This is an exciting evening of food and fellowship, as together we raise funds to further God's ministry and to show that we are "Wild about WA!"

The funds raised at this event will provide our school community with expanded technology and enhanced capital improvements.

If you would like to donate an item(s) to be used for the auction, please click here, fill out and mail the acquisition form or email Wanda Alday at walday@elementfunding.com by Friday, January 20.  Restaurant gift certificates, use of vacation homes, sports memorabilia etc., all make great auction items.  We will be happy to pick up any items that you are donating.

Please feel free to call if you need assistance or have any questions.

Soul Surfer Author on "Homeroom"
Soul Surfer
Bethany Hamilton lost her arm in the fall of 2003 to a shark attack, and to many it seemed that the  career of one of the country's top amateur surfers was over. But just ten weeks later, she returned to competition in her native Hawaii, vowing never to give up the sport she loves.

Bethany has already lived more than a lifetime's worth of triumph and tragedy. Bethany's mom, Cheri Hamilton, shares with Laura Bishop how the family relied on their faith in God to embrace changes that would undo most people.

"Homeroom" can be heard every Thursday evening from 9-10 PM on GRACE FM 90.3 FM or on www.gracefmradio.com.
