Dear WA Community,
Please allow me this opportunity, as we come to the close of our first quarter of study, to say thank you to every member of our school community. From the students and their families to our Kingdom workers, we are truly blessed by God's people and provisions at WA. I continue to be extremely impressed and profoundly blessed by so many wonderful people who gather each day in the oneness of Christ to learn and grow in God's Truth at Westminster Academy.
Even with our challenges and imperfections, it is evident throughout WA that our faculty, staff, coaches and volunteers have a passion for Jesus and a love for the children who they teach and disciple. We are also blessed by an extraordinary group of volunteers-the PTF, Booster Club, Room Moms, Auction Committee, Alumni Association, School Board and prayer warriors. As you know, it takes a Christian covenant community to raise a child in the ways and wisdom of Jesus Christ. Our children are discipled by this remarkable army of witnesses each and every day at WA.
Since we know that there is always room for improvement, we will continue to prayerfully and consistently seek God's leading and your feedback as we review and evaluate all areas of the school ministry. Please continue to let us know your thoughts and suggestions about WA as your input is helpful and appreciated. Your perspective will help us as we continue to learn and mature as God's school ministry. Please let me know if you would like to meet with me about WA. Please contact Barb Carlen at carlenb@wacad.edu or you can email me your thoughts, suggestions or questions at orsinol@wacad.edu. Thank you in advance for your help.
Your prayers and partnership during our first quarter of study at Westminster Academy are deeply appreciated. With God's love, grace and Truth, along with your steadfast prayers and the outstanding Kingdom work from His army of witnesses, we will continue to learn, grow and mature as His people and His school ministry for His glory.
May God's grace and peace be with you and your family as you rest and enjoy the blessings of our four day fall break weekend.
Blessings to you and your family in the Name of Jesus Christ, Leo Orsino Headmaster orsinol@wacad.edu |

New Academic Opportunities to Challenge our Students

We will begin to offer monthly Headmaster's Bible Challenge competitions for students in grades 1 through 5. Each Headmaster Bible Challenge will be a separate event, and students will be eligible to receive special academic awards based upon successful completion of each assignment.
We will also be participating in the Broward County Science Fair beginning in December, Math Olympics and Speech Meets in February, Spelling Bees in March, and the Invention Fair in April. We anticipate more academic opportunities in the works for our students. The E-news will have more details as they become available.

 Small Group Bible Studies
Westminster Academy is excited to bring small group Bible studies to the entire Upper School this year! Small groups are going very well and students have reported that they are learning a lot and enjoying this time of spiritual discussion and reflection. High school groups are lead by juniors and seniors and middle school groups are led by WA teachers. Both middle school and high school groups are supervised by WA teachers.
These gatherings give students another way to connect with the Gospel as they discuss with fellow students the spiritual truths presented in chapels. Small groups meet on alternate weeks from chapels.
This year, we are studying the Fruit of the Spirit from Galatians 5:22, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control..." Each month we will be looking at a different "fruit," in both chapels and small groups.

The Difference Between Student Group Fundraisers and School Fundraisers
We are grateful for the tremendous support that our school community blesses our students and school ministry with. Please know that fundraisers such as the sale of pumpkins, poinsettias, Yankee Candles, Christmas wreaths, etc., are used to provide funding for school-related trips such as the orchestra performance in Montreal, Canada, musical competitions, the 8th grade Washington, D.C. trip, etc.
The fundraisers that support the ministry of WA are the annual dinner auction (coming up on February 4th), magazine drive sales and the Boosterthon Fun Run.
Thank you for supporting our students and school ministry with your prayers, gifts and time!
