Dear WA Community,

Welcome to a new school year at Westminster Academy!

Dr. Leo Orsino HeadshotI hope you're doing well and have enjoyed a special summer of family time, rest and renewal. As we look to a new school year, once again we have a lot to be grateful for as a community of believers and school ministry.  At WA we get to enjoy the good news of the Gospel every day as brothers and sisters in Christ. We get to share and prosper from the love, grace, wisdom and Truth of Jesus Christ in all areas of our school community. I am so grateful for this gift and the opportunity to serve God and His people at Westminster Academy. I am sad to see the summer end, but I am very excited about what God will do when we seek and follow Him as devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

We know that our God will do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine when we place Christ first and at the center of all that we say and do. This is why the first five words of our mission statement are truly the key to our success. "Westminster Academy is a Christ-centered..." By fixing our eyes, heart, soul and mind on Jesus Christ we can trust that God will teach and grow us according to His divine purposes and plan.

This year our Bible theme, "Growing in Christ," will place an even greater emphasis on encouraging everyone to grow, develop and mature in their relationship with Jesus Christ and His Gospel. Our spiritual life and educational programs will encourage students and our school community to grow closer to Jesus Christ and deeper in their understanding of God's Holy Word.

Our Bible study for the school year is from the book of John and our Bible verse for the school year is John 15:5.

I am the Vine; you are the branches. If you remain in Me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing (John 15:5).

As a Christ-centered, biblically-based, Gospel-focused, grace-filled, excellence-driven, classical, covenant, comprehensive college preparatory school, we will continue to prayerfully partner with our school parents throughout the school year to:

  • Surround, protect and educate your children with the very best Christ-honoring professionals
  • Bathe your children in prayer and teach them about the power and privilege of prayer
  • Position your children to know Jesus Christ and to grow in their relationship with Him
  • Immerse your children in God's Truth in all areas of their learning
  • Inspire your children to excel by using their gifts and to become all that God created them to be for His glory.

We look forward to an exciting and blessed year as we continue to focus on the education of the whole child, their mind, soul, heart, body and character. We are thankful that God has increased our enrollment from 840 students last year to more than 900 students this year. God has also brought gifts and donations through the remarkable generosity of our school community to improve His facilities and purchase more computers. Our lower school computer lab is a special blessing to our students and their educational journey. We have also added a number of key extra-ordinary Christ-honoring professionals to help with the intellectual enrichment and the spiritual enhancement of our student's learning experience at WA.

Praise God for people, provisions and providential blessings. Praise God for Jesus Christ and His Gospel--the cornerstone of our learning, faith and school ministry.

I hope to see you at our annual first day of school Convocation on Monday, August 15 at 8:50 a.m. in the CRPC sanctuary. If you can, please join us for coffee prior to the Convocation in Kennedy Fellowship Hall, compliments of our wonderful PTF board.

In closing, please continue to saturate our students, school parents, teachers, staff members, coaches, volunteers, PTF, Booster Club, alumni, donors, School Board and church leadership in prayer. Please pray that God would continue to use WA as He has for the last forty-one years, to save souls, educate students, develop disciples, equip the saints and impact lives for His glory.

Your prayers and ongoing commitment to God's school ministry at Westminster Academy are very much appreciated.

Blessings to you and your family in the Name of Jesus Christ,

Academic Information on RenWeb

Please know that through RenWeb, your child's academic information (grades, homework status, etc.) will be emailed to you every Sunday night. We would have preferred to have this information sent out earlier in the weekend, however, RenWeb chooses when the email is sent. We strongly suggest that you do not turn off the RenWeb option since it will eliminate a great deal of important communication about your child.

Please know that upper school students' course selections and schedules are on RenWeb which can be accessed by going to www.wacad.edu.

Please click here for the 6th grade schedule.

Please click here for the 7th and 8th grade schedule.

Please click here for the high school schedule.

We are excited to have this useful service to increase better communication between school and home!

Parents' Back-To-School Night

Early every school year, we invite our parents to enjoy an evening walking through their child's schedules and meeting with their teachers. This is a ten-minute introductory time for you, our parents, to find out what each class is about, receive a copy of each class syllabus and ask questions. The middle school date was moved due to a scheduling conflict, so please note the new date is Monday, August 29, 2011.

The high school Back-to-School Night is scheduled for Thursday, September 1, 2011. Each night we will begin classes at 7:00 p.m.  Our PTF provides refreshments throughout the evening, so please come early and enjoy refreshments and fellowship with other parents.

We look forward to seeing you at Back-to-School Night!

CASA/Hang Time--After School Opportunities for Students

We are excited to offer your child a safe and fun place to go to after school!  Our CASA program is for children from preschool (beginning at two-years-old) to the 5th grade. Children have time to rest, have a snack, do homework, and enjoy being a kid!

We also have a great "Hang Time" experience for middle school students. "Hang Time" students have the opportunity to finish their homework, have a snack, and enjoy some time with friends.

Please click here to sign your child up for CASA, and please click here to sign up for Hang Time. You may also call Lynn Koffler at 954.632.7466.
