Did you know that today is 09/09/09? Yep, September 9, 2009. Or, for those of us more educated folk, it's World Day of Interconnectedness. Yeah, I had no idea either. But according to their website it has to do with: "A deep sense of interconnectedness, or oneness, is at the core of decisions and actions that are life affirming and good for the whole. In other words, it will bring forth an environmentally sustainable, fulfilling and socially just human presence."
I don't know about all that, but I do know that living our lives outside ourselves is always a good idea. Speaking of which, allow me to pitch our missions projects for this month. The first one is already past and you all failed miserably. First Sunday we collect non-perishable food items for HOPE Ministries in Baton Rouge. Not only did you miss church because of Labor Day and the LSU game, you forgot to bring your food items to church. Well, being the nice guy I am, we're accepting food donations this week as well. SO DON'T FORGET!
Secondly, we are working with Habitat for Humanity on two separate weekends in September. The first is this Saturday at 8:00 am. Details and a map are listed below. Friends, it's a great thing to help a family own their own home. Habitat families actually work to help build the homes then pay Habitat back for the houses. It's win win, it's fun and oh yeah, it's biblical for us to help people.
So, grab your tools, take your ibuprofen and head for Habitat this Saturday.
God Bless and Good Fishin'
